I've read that something like 1 in 10 people are addicted to heroin in Baltimore, generations of well/semi-functioning opiate addicts abound. That is an astounding rate, if it were anywhere close to true.

This could be good and bad for you, eits...

One one hand, painkiller use could mean possible chronic/acute pain = more people coming to you for adjustments than other cities.

OTOH, a bigger majority of your patients may be coming asking for them pain pills and other pharmacological treatment instead of adjustments, although we know how against medicine you are, so I'm not trying to start a debate and hijack this thread! lol

either way, let's see how these states stack against each other as far as national ranking upon what the best states are to live in:
maryland

virginia

lol, they rank Wyoming and Utah over either. And I don't have anything against those states, but their metrics are clearly a bit fucked.

Anyways, I've had family move to Maryland and they seem largely happy (and these are Texans and Californians) with things there. They're certainly up at the top when it comes to tech-related jobs and an educated populace.

Intelligent people are definitely a plus, critical thinkers make for great discussions and good friends.

I guess now I know where you stand on medicine, btw, lol.. Best of luck with the move! :)

If Maryland is educated I don't want to know what uneducated looks like.

If Maryland is educated I don't want to know what uneducated looks like.

Montgomery County has got to be among the wealthiest/most education counties in the US, and the DC metro area is quite educated due to all the government and private jobs available.

Maryland is awesome. F all the haters. I'm educated, employed, not an asshole, not addicted to heroin AND I don't drive like a piece of shit.

moving back in january. pretty excited, yet kinda heartbroken. my relationship with my girlfriend will end, which sucks, because we're great together. she can't move with me because she has a daughter who she can neither take nor leave.

Good luck in your shitty state, come to VA when you decide to like money and not like paying for 52 week unemployment welfare.

The problem with VA is you can live in Northern VA which is ungodly expensive, or the rest of the state which is redneck central.

But have fun in your welfare state that just decided to add casinos to the poorest county in your state (PG).

There is no possible way that PG County is poorer than Baltimore City or some of the Western MD counties like Garret or Cumberland.

Oh please, Virginia nickles and dimes you in all kinds of ways as well. Car tax anyone? How about the insane ($1,000+) speeding fines they tried to issue a few years ago? Northern VA traffic also makes me want to slit my wrists. Maryland is flawed but it's absurd to pretend that VA is some sort of example of awesomeness.

You will be returning to the state that was the first state in which voters approved a gay marriage bill. Not even California did that. I have to give Maryland kudos for that. It is also the state with the best hospitals in the country. Maryland has its flaws, but certain parts can still be a charming.

Yes, the taxes go to PG County hoodrats and help support slackers for 52 weeks. Yet like you said, MD is so money hungry they will gouge you with automated speed cams on top of the taxes. Sure sounds like an awesome place to me. Just for reference, I lived there for 4 years so I'm not pulling this out of my ass.

VA has the top 3 (yes 1-2-3 in that order) of the top 10 richest counties in the country and 4 of the top 10 overall. To MD's credit, at least Howard County made the top 10.

I wouldn't want to live in VA, MD, or DC. But if I had to pick, Arlington, VA gets you the most for your money, including schools. As I've said in other threads, I'd never, for a second, consider living outside the beltway.

Sincerely, a former resident.

He didnt mean PG County in Va... I know where you are talking about

Prince George's County in Md is very very very corrupt... See Jack Jackson

Southern Md isnt bad..... Hell where I live in Southern Md, there is plenty to do, salaries are great, and NAVAIR is based out of here.... it brought hundreds of thousands of jobs to Pax River...

Shit they are bringing 60k+ plus more.....

Taxes are going to be high anyways they will rack you over the coals....

I travel to places like Phx, Tampa, SanDog, Houston, Detroit, Buffalo, i wouldnt ever want to live in those places...
