Good luck in your shitty state, come to VA when you decide to like money and not like paying for 52 week unemployment welfare.

the taxes in maryland actually go to things that matter, which is why it's one of the best states... sure as shit beats virginia, that's for sure. i'm cool with having the best public school system in the country.

the only thing that sucks about maryland is the speed limit and all the speed cameras all over montgomery county.

Yes, the taxes go to PG County hoodrats and help support slackers for 52 weeks. Yet like you said, MD is so money hungry they will gouge you with automated speed cams on top of the taxes. Sure sounds like an awesome place to me. Just for reference, I lived there for 4 years so I'm not pulling this out of my ass.

VA has the top 3 (yes 1-2-3 in that order) of the top 10 richest counties in the country and 4 of the top 10 overall. To MD's credit, at least Howard County made the top 10.

nova counties are just run-off from maryland. that's why the state is becoming more and more liberal.

maryland = historically very democratic
virginia = historically very liberal

also, as far as driving, i'd much rather drive in maryland ANY DAY over driving one hour in virginia. worst highway patrol and cops ever... talk about money-gouging people...

either way, let's see how these states stack against each other as far as national ranking upon what the best states are to live in:
maryland

virginia

oh, by the way... there's also this...

moving it to maryland. i already have more people waiting to become a patient in maryland than i do out here in missouri... this state is flooded with chiropractors, and shitty ones at that.

So more income I assume

So you linked to someone's opinion and one year of Census ACS. My Forbes study was over 4 years of ACS so it's more accurate. And then there's this painful reminder:

A 1% difference in unemployment is big. But have fun in your welfare state that just decided to add casinos to the poorest county in your state (PG). Awesome!

Welcome back I guess :^D

MD has a lot to offer, and it's certainly a raise from Missouri, but if I were inclined to move, I'd pick Maine, New Hampshire, or Washington. The only reason I'm still here is family, and anchored roots. I like the familiar, and would have a hard time changing it up at this stage in my life. It may happen some day though...

So I've wondered, do they hit you on the head with heavy objects when you move there, or do they just randomly break stuff in your car? Because something has to explain why everyone from Maryland is a shitty driver.

There's plenty of shitty drivers to go around. Pa, NY, and NJ are especially bad. I'm not defending MD drivers, cause they definitely suck, but I don't think we have a lock on that. Marylanders in the mountains seem like they drive better than the one from the I95 corridor.

Actually this is a good point. SoMD and rural Md (hancock/hagerstown/frederick) aren't bad (went to school and lived in both areas), only dc metro suck ass.
