I am in love with Chevrolet Cruze.

White Cruze to be exact.

No, I am not planning to buy it.. although I would, IF I had the dough. I think it is most beautiful and well proportioned car on the mass market right now. I was walking to have my lunch when I spotted this parked white Cruze, I stood for the better part of the minute in front of the car before realizing how creepy it was.

I guess it was the contrasting fall colors on the background.. that made this one stand out than ever before.

I will drink my favorite beer this weekend in the name of the people who made this truly stunning car.

Well, so far I love mine and after 11,000 miles my mpg is just over 43.

It's a decent car, and almost inarguably the best compact that GM has ever brought to market.

But really? This car really is an appliance, it has nowhere near the vitality or personality of the more dynamic compacts out there.

But really? This car really is an appliance,

I am not going to argue on that as I totally agree and understand. But something about that car really struck me. Yeah, it is an appliance just like many other, but sometimes no matter how much you try to rationalize.. it becomes emotional. Like the first phone I've ever owned.. it is certainly not the best one I've laid my hand on, but I still adore that phone.. maybe because it was stolen right before my eyes.. it certainly left an emotional impact on me.

I like Honda Civic too.. I think the design was pretty future looking, I mean the 8th gen still looks pretty good when compared to today's designs. But this Cruze really struck the right chord when it comes to how it looks.

You could buy a Mazda 3 that gets the same gas mileage as the typical large sedan... but "the dynamics" are awesome!

I'll do ya one better. I just bought a 170HP Subaru compact that gets the same gas mileage as a midsize Honda sedan with 260HP.

The only cool thing about the cruze is the turbo. It has beautifully flat torque over a wide rpm range.

The downside is that it's a god damn heavy ass car. Cars like the Civic and Corolla are in the 2800lb range. Cruze is closer to 3200lb, so you don't really get to enjoy any of that added torque.

Yeah the older 2.3 Mazda3s were pretty thirsty considering their size. The new SkyActiv looks to have fixed that, and it would drive much better than a Cruze.

I rented an automatic turbo cruze a while back. Worst car to drive EVER.

I'm not joking. Of all the cars I've driven in my life, this one made me the happiest to turn in when I was finished with it. Maybe it is ok as a manual, but the auto is horrible.
Slow shift coupled with shifting in to neutral when stopped means you can floor it and not move until it decides to get in gear (literally)

Verano with the much stouter 2.4L Ecotec. I'll take less economy for more grunt.

Or the 2.0T hopefully...

Cruze is nice and fairly priced. I was looking at one a few weeks ago but ultimately decided on a new Fiesta, as it was much more fun to drive, and the interior just looked sleeker.

Dyno graphs for a car with 23 lbs/hp! Gotta love it 😉

I think the dyno is more meaningful when it's done on small cars or big trucks. You actually need every ounce of power the car has. 0-60 is full throttle the whole time, even when it's just a casual merge onto the freeway. Passing on the highway is full throttle the entire time.

For a more powerful car like a corvette, the graph is virtually meaningless. First and second gears will spin the tires at any rpm, so the dyno number means absolutely nothing in those gears. Getting on the highway or passing on the highway will probably never need full throttle, so that's out. The dyno graph doesn't have any useful numbers unless you're driving 100mph.

I've heard the Cruze is just a Cobalt/Cavalier with a face lift. The lower control arm bushings used to get f---ed on them after only 25,000 km, causing the front end to rattle. Wonder if they finally fixed that problem.

The Corvette has very good traction control, allowing you to use a lot more power than you think in 1st gear.

Even without the T/C, a good driver can get a good high power launch without spinning the Vette's tires. A good driver can use quite a bit of the Vette's power without wheelspin.

Otherwise, you wouldn't get those low 0-60 times.

The Cruze has nothing in common with the Cobalt/Cavalier as far as I know.

Totally different cars. They have nothing in common, and are completely different platforms.
The Chevrolet Cruze is a General Motors (GM) automobile, spanning two unrelated models. The original iteration, a subcompact crossover SUV, was manufactured by Suzuki in Japan between 2001 and 2008 under joint venture with GM. Since 2008, the "Cruze" nameplate has referred to a globally developed, designed and manufactured four-door compact sedan, which was complemented by a five-door hatchback body variant in 2011.

That means you have not driven many cars.

My worst cars to drive:

1) Chrysler Sebring
2) Chevy Cobalt
3) Chevy Aveo
4) Chrysler PT Cruiser(Yeah, I even hate to admit that I've driven this car.)
5) Chevy HHR
6) Toyota Camry(Although, I've found Camry hybrid to be much better and lively.)
7) Toyota Yaris
8) Kia Rio

I guess I can sorta understand the OP. I feel that way about the 6g Accord (which I own) - I've always thought the styling was so clean for a family sedan and one of the best looking common cars around. I don't feel that way about the Cruze though 😉
