This isn't really something you share, but what the heck; I'm in a sharing mood. Besides, it'll rile-up the PETA-funding, tree-hugging, wimpy people.
My GF has a 10-year old Chuihuaha (sp?)/Terrier Mix. For many years now, it's had kidney/bladder problems. She gets these "crystals" in her urine...blood and all that. The dog has been to the Vet and on meds twice, for a total cost of about $500 (GF paid, not me....)
In addition, the dog is currently kept in an empty bedroom all day, alone, at my GFs fathers' house. My GF has very bad asthma (you've all heard me whine about it already) and is allergic to the dog.
Her Dads' house is...how shall I say...a slum. Her Dad's a big-time Bubba and doesn't really believe in hygeine. He has his own dog, a black lab/rotweiller mix. That dog is locked in the backyard.
Well, both dogs are heavily infected with ticks and fleas. My GF's dog has fist-sized patches of hair missing, and you can plainly see the ticks sucking blood all over the poor dog.
It's been in this state of health/abuse for about a year now.
My GF doesn't have the $200 the vet wants to euthanize the dog.
So, this weekend, with my GF's approval, I am putting the poor little dog in it's pet carrier thingee and taking it "for a drive."
I am planning on taking it deep in the woods and shooting it a few times. Quick and painless.
It's much better than letting it loose in the streets in the city, where it'll just get set on fire by obnoxious children and hit by car and left to suffer.
Adoption is not an option. Would you want this dog? The vet has already said "she's on borrowed time with the kidney thing." That was two years ago.
What are your thoughts? Remember, I'm not going to torture the poor thing, I'm going to make it quick. I have shot a horse in the past, so this is not a new thing to me...
