I am getting ripped off by my insurance >(

My insurance company is trying to rip me off!!! They want me to pay $750/mo. for insurance on my '98 civic.:disgust: I only have 2 tickets on my record(granted they are major tickets: driving on denied license, & reckless driving), and they want me to pay THAT. When I saw my bill for next month, I almost sh1t myself. I still live with my parents and get a discount because my parents have the house insurance through this company. I decided to check out progressive.com and see what the competition has to offer. I can get a policy through progressive for only $320/mo. Luckily my policy at my current agency is up at the end of this month, so I can switch.:|

What do you drive that's more than $750 a month? 🙂

i understand that i was in the wrong on the tickets, but for there to be that much of price difference between the 2 companies? that's obscene.

Edit: the reckless driving ticket was a joke. i was driving through Mesquite, NV on my way home from Vegas. i was going 100 in a 75(with the flow of traffic) and the cop pulled me over. the law in nv is that if you are going over 100mph then it's reckless driving, no matter what the speed limit was. the cop didn't even try to give me any lee-way and knock 1mph off my speed, and just give me a ticket for speeding.

WTF do you think is going to happen when you try on a suspended license AND have another ticket for reckless driving? Hell, I think 750 is damn lucky. Stop whining and start taking responsibility for STUPID stuff you DID! It is not the insurance company that is fvcked up here, rather you are. Deal with it and stop driving like a damn moron.

I wouldn't insure you for 1000 a month with your attitude.

It is called life buddy. Get used to it now. There is ALWAYS that much a difference between companies. That high rate is your company telling you they don't want your business and with your next ticket they won't even offer to insure you.

my insurance agent is a good friend of the family, so i'll always be able to get insurance through them.

like i said earlier, i know i was in the wrong. the price difference is what i'm ranting about, not the fact that my insurance should be high.

On another note my friend has been busted for speeding a bunch of times and seriously his insurance is not that high. Check into Geico.

It's obvious that they don't want to continue insuring you, hence the high premium. With that in mind, definitely go with someone else. Although does that $320/mo from Progressive factor in the tickets?

I agree. Totally a joke. The drivers you flew past at 100 mph laughed their asses off when they saw you pulled over. I know I would.

Are you sure they want $750.00 a month or is it $750 every six months?

possitive it's 750/mo. it was 220/mo before, and when it was time to renew my policy, they updated my record and found the reckless driving citation.

ya, when you get a quote they ask for the tickets they would find on your record when they pull it themselves.

My car was singled out because it's cherry red, and had 3 people under 25 in it.

What company is it? Unless it is Joe Bob's insurance company he doesn't have a say if they drop you or not. Insurance is a complex business and aims to minimize liability. They can offer you high risk insurance or drop you. He cannot prevent them from dropping you unless the company is fairly small.

No, it was because you were speeding. Suck it up bucko. That is the price you pay for having a red car and young people in it.

Damn, 75 M.P.H. is fast enought. 100?? Like another poster indicated, you're lucky to even get an insurance company to provide a policy for you. However, the rate differences between companies seems questionable.
