I am getting a cold

I am in Phoenix and the weather lately has been about 55 degrees for the high. It has rained here and there.

I am going to northern AZ today where the temp is about 32 degrees for the high and snowing.

Is there anything I should get or do to prevent my cold from worsening?

Thanks

Stay warm, take your vitamins to keep your body working optimally, stay hydrated, try to stay dry. If I start to get a sore throat, I gargle warm salt water. In my experience, it has helped stopped my sore throat from getting worse and in many case has made it feel better. It's anecdotal, but it's something I do every time I get one. Good luck and feel better. 🙂

supposedly the high concentration of salt pulls some moisture out of the swollen tissue reducing the irritation and swelling. anectdotally the salt water gargle has helped my sore throats at all. not sure about preventing one, but definitely easing the pain.

I figured as much, but didn't wanna just toss up a random explanation. Yay osmosis 😛

I work out extra hard, lots of extra cardio, get my heart rate up and keep it there, sweating as much as possible. Usually spend some time in the sauna as well, I do that normally but I do some extra time. Throw in some Mucinex to clear up the congestion and keep my up daily vitamin regime.

This is only half-good. If you lift heavy weights while sick, you suppress your immune system. If you do cardio too hard, you suppress your immune system. If you sweat too much, you get dehydrated which will make you feel even sicker.

Light cardio is great while sick. It helps clear out all the gunk in the lungs and such, however there is no way you should lift or do cardio even close to as hard as normal while sick. It can and often times does make people even sicker.
