My oldest son, who is only nine, has just informed me that he is daydreaming about a girl. Her name is Rebecca, and she has red hair and blue eyes. (At least he has good taste in hair color ;)) He wants to ask her to be his "lady" to quote him. I cannot take this, he is still my baby. Even though he denies that vehemently all the time. Is there a law that says I can lock him in a cage until he is 21? Because I think if he has an eye for the ladies already, I dread to think about his teen years.... :Q

My baby is growing up, and its just not fair. Pardon me, I think I am going to go stomp my foot and throw a tantrum for a while. :p

The chicks have to grow up and leave the nest sooner or later. My advice is to teach your son respect for the opposite sex (Which undoubtably you have done). Heck, I'm almost 20 and I still don't drive and don't have a girlfriend, I guess I just like having freedom and tranquility

He is very respectful to women, he knows I will kick his butt if he is not. ;)

Excuse me? I never say anything here that is not the purest cleanest of thoughts. Ok, I do, but he never reads the board anyway, I am not that stupid... :D And you wait buddy, now I owe you one.... :Q :)

I would'nt worry to much mom. The time was eventually gonna come when he discovered how wonderful the female species is.:)
Along with teaching him to respect female's, teach him how to do laundry, cook, clean and so on!;):D

Hiya GF...

So now is the chapter of "the little red-headed girl"

Remember??? Charlie Brown had a crush on a red-headed girl!!!

Good luck!!

You could always get him hooked on cs...
Just Kidding...

My 31 year old "kid" is hooked on that...
;)

CS.... Not red heads... (He better not be!!!)

Bah, don't worry yet GF... When he starts asking about where to get scented oils and candles for baths you should start worrying ;)

Oh and there's nothing like a girl "kissed by fire" as he's obviously already discovered  My props to the little fella :)

<<Is there a law that says I can lock him in a cage until he is 21?>>

This varies by state. I believe down South this is actually encouraged. I will get on Lexis and see what I can find . . . :);):p:cool:

Are you trying to give me a heart attack TwoFace? :Q

Missus: He already plays CS sometimes, he is a video game freak. Unfortunately, that has not deterred his interest in young girls. ;)

yakko: Dear God, I hope not. I do not want to deal with myself in the future, one of us would surely end up dead. :D

Tee_Edwards: I would appreciate any information you have on this subject, thank you. :p

Nonono GF I haven't even started trying to give you a heart attack ... YET ;)

The time for a heart attack ain't before he asks you where to get "marital aids" as I believe the current OT term for the stuff is

A 9 year-old has no business having a "lady" yet. If he's smart he'd wait til he's in highschool.

<< I cannot take this, he is still my baby >>

ummmm.... he'll always be your baby.

Want me to send you a photomanipulation of Janet Reno in a bikini to show him? That ought to make him play videogames and not think about girls for another 10 years. ;)

BTW, I had my first girlfriend at 7 and look how I turned out. :)

OMGosh! LOL!
GF -- When my youngest brother (the baby in the family) lived with us, his siblings, for 2 years, we totally treated him like a grown-up so talked normally to him about *relationships* ...Now that he's living with my parents again, I think he shocks them with the information he knows! He was only 9 or 10 at that time, and he told us he liked blondes with long hair :)

Denni, do you have a photo of Janet Reno in a bikini playing video games? Maybe that'll get my 12yr old's mind off of girls and video games and back into studying and doing homework.

the illusion here is that you think you have some influence at all. i have six children ranging in age from 26 to nine. as a friend of mine told me many years ago, "you have about 5 or 6 years to train(raise) your kids, after than its only a little fine tuning". If he is nine, then the boat has left the dock. of course stay in touch, but you are the advice giver now, not the teacher. please stay in touch with him, but be prepared to start being "left out of the loop". and, oh yeah, it only gets worse until they become real adults and start telling you how to do things,(like raise kids) good luck. its beautiful.

Eh, don't worry, some "boys" seem to be interested in girls really early, like 5 or 6 years old, and then they hate them, etc. And besides, there's probably nothing wrong with that, unless he wants to (seriously) marry her right now, have kids, etc. =)
