I almost ran over a cyclist this morning

This. There are good drivers and bad drivers. There are good cyclists and bad cyclists. Confirmation bias is evil, I tells you! Evil!

The only good cyclist is a dead cyclist.

I hope I never accidentally hit a cyclist IRL because if the cops ever backtrace me to this thread I'll probably get the chair.

i have to ask this stupid question:
if u have a dashcam and it clearly shows the cyclist is at fault. you ran over the cyclist and hes dead. would you go to jail or what?

Probably not, but replace the word cyclist with the generic "other person".

I have been both the driver of an automobile and a bicycle. I find bicyclists are generally fitter, less aggressive and more patient on average.

Many motorist are in a rush to go nowhere and are more concerned about quickly arriving at their destination, while bicyclists are more content to enjoy the journey. The two-ton vehicle is at a power advantage as to whether the road (as by law) is shared with comparatively flimsy/slower bicycles, not vice versa.

Haha, no, the cops just throw the cyclist into the ditch whether you have dashcam or not.

I would just like to point out anti bicyclist bias over here.

A similar thread about drivers posted this morning went practically unnoticed. This one however is up to the 3rd page.

People need to get over themselves. Everyone makes mistakes, drivers and ciclysts alike. If you're going to be hating, at least do it equally.

I approached a stoplight with a protected left so I didn't slow down much at first. Fortunately the intersection is pretty clear so I could see the cyclist coming down the hill on the sidewalk who seemed to have no intention of stopping for the Do Not Walk sign so I quickly stopped despite the green turn arrow.

Sure enough he just barreled right through. If I hadn't seen him he would have been splattered on the road.

Darwin gave you just one job, ONE JOB, and you fucked it up.

Saw a motorcycle almost get taken out this morning.

I was thinking of jules. 🙂

I don't really consider motorcycles in the same class as cyclists. At least the motorcycles can maintain the speed limit and not block traffic. Actually every motorcycle weaving in and out of traffic is one less car to the stop light.

(until they cause an accident and then nobody can get to the stop light)

BAHAHAHA yeah right. Rofl

This weekend I saw a good one - I'm at a red light, and a group of 10 or so ciclists came flying by lane-splitted, then forcefully ran the redlight.

So finally the taxpaying car drivers are able to go, right when another 3 or 4 ciclists who were not lance armstrong-enough to keep up came flying through and nearly got creamed.

Ciclists are biggest drain on traffic and pollution on our roads today. They hold up traffic, they cause people in cars trying to get to work to be late, they are most selfish elitish people around.

All of it can be solved by tagging/taxing/licensing ciclists.

Would have been his fault most likely as bicycles are subject to most of the same laws of motor vehicles. Even as a pedestrian, it would be considered jaywalking and would fall under pedestrian error.

"I need to speak to my lawyer"

People are fed up by ciclists. In my area no way a jury would convict. You can't go 2 miles without seeing some moronic ciclist blazing through a red light or holding up 10+ cars instead of letting people pass.

In general society is fed up with these people holding up traffic and causing danger for others.

What you're seeing is a general reflection on how people feel about ciclists lately.

That stinks, but I don't blame you for feeling that way. And it's not just cyclists...I almost ran over a baby the other day due to a runner not paying attention...the dad was running with headphones on, pushing a jogging stroller, and cut straight across the intersection with green lights - completely clueless to ALL oncoming traffic (obviously just in zone-out running mode listening to the beat of the music)...it was horrible, literally came within feet of hitting them both D:

He's probably a ciclist, just forced by mom to take the baby.

Seriously, look at the people blindly changing lanes with no signal, cutting people off, turning right on red without stopping.

It's almost always some mouth breather with a goofy bike rack on the roof.

Or, someone in a hybrid.

Your significant other leave you for a cyclist? Wait...that would require you to have had one. Why all the hate then?

Y'know...it REALLY is the only way...

LOL thought of this very picture. Good call Boomer! 🙂

I am so thankful that I live in a place where I never see these mythical creatures!

Then you get roving packs of these assholes, riding two or more abreast on a two lane road. Which is illegal BTW. 🙄

I've ran into a few of these down here.

Kinda makes ya want to hit the accelerator sometimes, but *shrug*

this one apparently wasn't happy just doing 15 over when he came up behind me, so he ended up going from far left to far right, then as he was going back to center another car started moving over just as he cross the lane boundary. if I had to stay for the cops I was torn on who to side with.
