Long story short, a truck had it's hazard lights blinking (is that what they are called when both blinkers blink at the same time? ) and I only noticed one of them blinking so I thought he was turning. So I pulled out in front of him and almost died.

I'm just wondering if this kind of thing happens to everyone or if I'm just really dumb 🙂

So many things to say. So little time.
 
Why do you automatically pull out in front of people that you think are turning? Hold your lane and allow them to complete their maneuver (or not, in your case).
 
#1. Always use your signal.
#2. Just because they're not signalling, doesn't mean they won't turn in front of you.
#3. Just because they're signalling, doesn't mean they WILL turn, and they might even turn in the opposite direction instead.
#4. NEVER cut off a truck.

You deserved what you almost got, I'm afraid, for forgetting rule #3, and most of all for forgetting rule #4😉
 
I almost got hit by a car because I was crossing a 3 lane road when the red hand was up, cars were turning and I had my headphones and sunglasses on while drinking a coffee.

No, I'm not trying to mock you. This is true, and it happened this morning on my way to work.

I, good sir, am a jaywalker.
 
I will elaborate more on the story tomorrow, but for now you should know that I was turning onto the highway from a stop sign. I thought the truck was turning off the highway.

The rest of the story doesn't matter. The facts are you didn't wait for him to commit himself and you're lucky you didn't die.
 
I never pull out in front of a car with their turn signal on even.... that is suicidal behavior


If I see them slowing down considerably and start to make the turn, then I go.
 
My friend almost got run over yesterday, literally. She's in a wheelchair and she was crossing the street, suddenly the car she was in front of goes, she goes flying and her chair goes under the car. Thankfully shes ok.

So you didn't see him slow down, or even go out a tad to make the turn in? (this is me assuming you say "truck" as in "semi")
 
i saw an incident of road rage today. the guy honked and cursed at the girl in front of him for not going. it looked like he was going to run her over. was that girl you?
 
you should have gotten hit....

nothing pisses me off more when people turn on their turn signals when the ppl in front of them are turning...example:

car1 puts blinker on...car2 puts blinker on...me= oh ok...they are going to turn and get out of my way...car1 turns...car2 turns blinker off and goes straight...it makes me SOOO mad...fakes me out every time and i almost wana ram them >(
 
I don't mean to take the spotlight but something similar happened to me. I was at a stoplight behind a red SUV in the middle lane (three lanes). The light turns green, we go. The SUV is driving very slow so I change to the slow lane. After I change lanes, the motherf*cker in the SUV starts drifting into my lane. The asshole is literally half in my lane and half in his lane. So at this point, I get pissed and I punch the gas and move further right and go around the SUV. I can do this because the right lane is extra wide for cars turning into the parking lots without slowing down traffic in the slow lane. I'm going about 60 MPH on a 40MPH street.

After I pass the SUV, I look in the rearview and see the asshole change lane. He starts revving up and starts catching up to me. I estimate his speed at 70MPH. Well, as I'm coasting at 60MPH, there's an old 50's car taking a really wide really slow right turn. I mean the guy must have going at 5MPH if that. Also, there's a Chevy truck waiting to pull out. I'm coming up to this guy really fast and realize that he's going very slow so I slam on the brakes. I was saying to myself "Oh sh*t, I'm going to hit this guy." I look in my rearview mirror to see the red SUV coming up fast. At this point, I'm like "Oh sh*t, I'm going to get sandwiched."

Anyways, I don't think the red SUV saw the car that was taking its sweet time turning into the parking lot. I see the red SUV pull to the right side and try to pass on my right in the extra space that cars use to turn. I think the SUV driver thought I was f*cking with him by slamming on my brakes for no reason. As my car gets about 5 foot from the rear end of the car turning (I'm still traveling at 20MPH), I hear a loud screeching from the red SUV trying to brake and finally slam into the guy turning into the parking lot. The turning car is spun perpendicular to the SUV and hits the Chevy truck that was waiting to pull out. And because the turning car was pushed forward by the SUV, I was able to stop accident free. Had the Chevy truck not been there, I believe the turning car would have been launched and possible flipped.

I almost got hit two weeks ago by an SUV while I was crossing the street. Walk sign was illuminated...the SUV tried to pull a fast left in front of oncoming traffic and literally was 6 inches from swiping me... had I not been paying attention I would've been hit. The SUV didn't even slow down...just sped right past me. I did hit the SUV as it sped by yelled "FVCK" as loud as I could.

I'll tell you...it should be legal to throw rocks at vehicles that don't yield right of way to pedestrians. I'd have broken many windows by now.

Get a gun, and load it with blanks. The next time that happens pull out your gun and start shooting blanks at the speeding car. The blanks won't do anything, but they'll scare the sh!t out of the driver.

Never assume that other people actually know what they're doing while driving, expect worst case scenario and prepare for it. Defensive driving.
