Sorry to say but its her own fault.

She should have had it in a secure location plain and simple.

You stated her employer does not allow phones on the job but thats irrelevant, i have worked dozens of jobs that did not allow cell phones, i ALWAYS carried my phone on my person at all of those jobs all the time. I just turned it off(not silent, OFF) and went about my job. I never once got questioned about having my phone on me because no one knew as i never used it or had it out of my pocket on shift as it was turned off. I know most kids nowdays cant do that as they are addicted to their phones and have to get the text or facebook message in but again that would be on her if she got busted with it on shift.

Haha I used to check it at work, but it got pretty old. Single tasking is awesome. I do the same so I don't have to answer "hows work?" 1 hour after I get there.

The black uniforms that they are required to wear just don't condone hiding a phone at all. She said that she (and others) had them off but that the management could see them (outline) and stated no, not here. She went to work last night with only her drivers license (no purse....not even her debit card). She locked the license in her car.

Thats a shame, i would quit. I wouldnt want to work somewhere that management doesnt care that they have thieves working for them and wont allow you to carry your phone even if its off.

Sorry to ear this OP, I guess we all take chances in life and sometime we lose. It doesn't look like your daughter did anything unreasonable here so it sucks even more.

My question, I own a Google Nexus S phone (I love the friking thing) set up to lock automatically after each use. A thief would have to restore the phone to factory setting before he/she could use it. If I got my provider to disable it (Koodo) on their network, could this phone be used on another network?

Anybody?

Thanks.

Many retail employers forbid their employees to carry cell phones or other distractions on the floor.

Violating the rules will get you terminated.

If the employer does require one not to have these kinds of things on the floor, they should provide lockers so employees can lock up the contraband items while working and be able to use them on breaks and leaving the premises.

And if a person has impulse control and never uses it while on the job, how would they know?

Now if she doesn't have any impulse control and just having the phone on her means she has to check it, then she's screwed and should leave it at home until she gets off work.

what job does she have that has pants so tight that it shows off the outline of the phone???

Dude WTF, most women don't carry anything in their pants since almost all styles show all objects today.

Also if the employer requires employees to strip down items, handbags, etc; lockers should be provided. A car is not a secure location as well as many items would be ruined in the heat generated.

Engineer, I didn't notice you were in Lexington. Does she work IN the city or out in the suburbs? If she is working in the city you need to get her out of there man. Kentucky's large cities are no joke and you SHOULD be concerned about her safety if she works anywhere close to Lexington or, especially, Louisville. Her little side money isn't worth her life.

Whats so dangerous about Lexington?

She should put her phone in her bra. Then, when management complains, "OMG, why are you looking at my breasts?!?! Sexual harassment!"

Profit.

My kids understand I will not tolerate two things: Lying and Stealing.

drama much??

Bro its a company issued uniform..... so that is why asked where does she work that the company has skin tight pants as a uniform. chill bro.

for reference my 18 year old daughter works at Arby's pants are employee bought and can not be a "fashion" or designer type pant so they are not skin tight.

No drama bro.

Most women are usually petite so their clothing even if not skin tight will reveal even small items.

I wouldn't use Arby's (lol) as a great example to uniforms in the retail world. I know in the clothing world a 'company' uniform is usually normal clothes you have to buy and they change based on day and season. Fast food is a whole other realm.

Usually the pants most women will where are very form fitting to begin with.

Answers to questions:
No, the parking lot is not secure enough to store the items (purse, phone, etc.) in a car.

With cars you leave stuff in the trunk. Hidden from view. When people smash car windows they grab whatever's visible quickly and run. You're talking a mall too. Sometimes those 3am grabbings they have time to find more things, but honestly, as long as you have stuff out of plain sight in a car, you're okay for the most part.

Clearly you're OK with your daughter working at the mall, so unless this is downtown Oakland, I wouldn't worry about the car as much...

Cars are stolen regularly from almost all malls whether they are ghetto or not.

A professional thief will watch for women in a parking lot without a purse. 9 times out of 10 it will be in the vehicle. Some of the time they put it in the trunk prior to leaving home.

There is a nice dog park here in Delray. Cars are constantly broken into in broad daylight with crowds just 20-30 feet away. It's almost always women as the victims, most have sworn their purses were not visible from the windows or actually in the trunk.

She has a Jeep with a rear window (no trunk). (By the way, she bought and is paying for the Jeep too).

She was born here and I've been here over 20 years. We are on the South side and have never had issues here. Don't go downtown much, especially just North of downtown. Also, try to stay away from certain areas like Woodhill.

Lexington's crime isn't any worse per capita than most other KY towns.
