I absolutely hate thieves....daughter's (and another) phone stolen.

My daughter, 18, had her iPhone stolen from her place of employment last night (along with another young lady's). They were in the storage drawer (they don't have lockers) and someone took them. She is a great kid and works very hard for her money (she paid for the iPhone) and has worked since turning 16. She now has to fork over $600 for a new one or $350 for a refurbished (she could also go the eBay way).

Fuck thieves.....I really hope these people get what they deserve in life.

(no, she didn't have the locate iPhone from the cloud stuff turned on and she didn't have it locked with a code...we are SOL).

Thanks for reading....

my sister had her iphone stolen a few years ago when she worked in a courthouse.

her office was surrounded by cops, lawyers, and judges 😕😵

Maybe she should have stored it in a secure location.

That would have solved the problem but she stored it in the most secure location that the employer provides. She could have left it in the car but there have been 2 cars broken into over the last few years. She could just leave it home but that defeats the purpose of having a phone.

I'll suggest that she get a holster and keep it on her side if she takes it with her again (assuming she gets another).

ding ding ding

She should've never left it in an unsecure location.

In this case, it's a $600 lesson (could've been worse).

Thieves do suck though.

Anyways, she is an adult now and this is really nothing for you to worry about. Lesson she has to learn. I'm sure she will survive without her phone (don't worry).

Heck, she is probably better off without it. 🙂

By the way, I understand that she could and should have secured it and I also understand that it's not mine, but the point is that thieves suck. People have absolutely no respect for the property of others, and regardless of statistics saying that crime is going down, watching the news sure doesn't make it feel that way.

Thieves need to die in a fire (yes, I'm damn angry about this).

I think we're getting to the point where just about anyone will steal if they think they can get away with it. Never heard of anything being stolen at the office for years, now it's about once a month. People's personal stuff, not office supplies. They had to order keys so people could lock their desks. Up until recently, no one had keys and no one ever asked for them.

There is not one single person in the place making so little money that they need to steal graphing calculators from co-workers. But now people have to remember never to leave them on the desk unattended.

One guy ordered a polo shirt with the company logo for a customer visit. Put it on his desk and when he came back from lunch it was gone.

It's ridiculous.

People do suck and I usually assume the worst about them. No doubt, this is no news flash.

Lay off the news.

Don't worry about things you can't control. This is out of your control.

And yes, people suck. But at the same time, your daughter's common sense should've told her not to leave her phone in an unsecure location.

Do you leave your car on when you go into supermarket? It's on par with what your daughter did.

Don't let this crap stress you out. Stress isn't healthy for you/your family.

Well these are great life lessons,

If you can't afford to loose something you better take really good care of it.

People are theives and will take anything that is not nailed down.

You can't trust anyone else with your belongings.

Expensive lesson but sometimes kids need to learn the hard way. I hope you make your kid pay for the new phone. Also maybe pay the extra 9 bucks a month for insurance? It covers loss or theft right?

I was wondering why she put it in a storage container? Do they have a rule against cell phones at her work?

Shouldn't place of employment be responsible to any items lost in their "secure" storage drawer? Why were they not allowed to have their phones with them (turned of, inside pocket). Talk to owner/manager of said establishment and who has access to that storage drawer during that time.

Fixed

I'd be wary of buying an iphone off ebay, it could have a bad ESN or the seller could claim it's stolen and collect insurance after it's sold to her and blacklist the ESN.
