I've heard some industry types go as far as saying Hyundai is the Honda of 20 years ago :QOriginally posted by: vi_edit
Hyundai/Kia = Volkswagen of 10 years ago.
Look what VW did from 99-2002(or 2003) before all the reliability issues. They went from considering dropping the US market to being class leaders and media darlings.
If Hyundai can learn from the rights and wrongs of VW they will definitely make a dramatic impact on the car industry.
Hyundai is better than Toyota & Honda in terms of comeback.
It only took them 10 years or so to go from being total crap to bringing out quality cars. They've had the fastest growth, much faster than Toyota and Honda.
Look at it this way, Hyundai started out in the late 80s with the Excel and look at them now. Toyota and Honda on the other hand, started out in the 70s with the Toyopet and Civic and it took them over 20-30 years to gain respect and a solid consumer base in North America.
I can definately see Hyundai surpassing Toyota & Honda in the next 15 years if they continue at the current pace.
They only have one drawback with me, and that's their design. I'm waiting for them to come with some original and pleasant designs (both interior and exterior).
You guys need to keep in mind that japanese car acceptance was sped up by the OPEC embargo. When oil prices shot up, it gave japanese cars the window of opportunity they needed to secure a strong place in the US market. Korean cars have no such opportunity to leverage.

I really like the bumper to bumper warranties that you can get with these cars. 100,000/10 year warranties are very attractive to me.

Bumper to bumper warranty is 5yr/60,000mi, bro.
10yr/100,000mi is powertrain warranty.
Anyway, it's a damn good warranty.

He said that you can get. I think he is talking about an extended warranty from hyundai. MY aunt got one on her Kia. I think it was around 1000.00 for 10/100 bumper to bumper, not bad at all.
