They have to overcome the image they;ve managed to create for themselves. Even if they are on par w/ a honda or toyota, id still rather shell out a fwe more bucks for a camery or accord

I agree. They need to bulk up their image and the resale value thing should eventually work itself out...

But they are finally starting putting out some good stuff.

It's definately a handsome car. I just can't get over the interior design. It looks akward and not too handsome.

i dont like it. Looks like a cheap car to me (which it may be, I didn't read anything about the price or whatever)

Maybe its done so you can still keep the road in your peripheral vision while glancing at the radio

I agree. I thought they'd arrived when the new Tiburon came out a few years back but there were a few kinks they still had to work out and that kept me from purchasing one (Went w/an RSX at the time)

Even though not too many people talk about it, the Elantra is also a quality car

Why not? The radio controls are closer to eye level and easier to reach. You can always direct the air vents to wherever you need them, but you can't change where the radio is...

**Can't believe I'm defending Hyundai** ;)

The only worse thing you can do in business than underestimating your competition, is underestimate your Korean competition.

Hyundai/Kia = Volkswagen of 10 years ago.

Look what VW did from 99-2002(or 2003) before all the reliability issues. They went from considering dropping the US market to being class leaders and media darlings.

If Hyundai can learn from the rights and wrongs of VW they will definitely make a dramatic impact on the car industry.

The American auto industry found that out the hard way...especially once they started building cars here ;)

I've heard some industry types go as far as saying Hyundai is the Honda of 20 years ago :Q

Nobody does it anymore, they are a known entity and are taken very seriously, but Koreans are underestimated, kind of like the Japanese were 25 years ago.
