Lets say there is a video card on the market that does the following:

60 fps, no ups, no downs, any settings you wish (max res, aa/af, etc...)

This thing stays at 60 fps no matter WHAT game your playing....it never goes up, never goes down, ALWAYS 60 fps...

Now besides this card, you have the cards that are already on the market...the 9800 and everything thats already available...which card would you pick if the hypothetical card above cost 1,500$? It comes in agp and PCI express form-factor...and is same price for either form...

The catch is, it only does this on dx9 apps and previous, once dx10 comes out the card is shit...would you buy it?

That's a pretty weak catch. Usually a catch is involved in something which is too good to be true. Like you can invest tax free in a certain country, but the catch is that when you take out all the money, it will be taxed. What you described is not a catch, but just another disadvantage. The price would be a better catch.

no one would buy that card, it would be worthless once dx 10 came out. Then what are you going to do once games start requiring that? Hmmmm? And $1500? What a load of crap.

definitely not worth the price. not only because of the dx9 restriction. even if the restriction wasnt there, $1500 would be insane for all but those who buy $500 video cards.

hell no for $1500. I could upgrade to the top of the line video card once a year for the next 5 years and by that time the card I have will blow this one out of the waters.

ok, well lets say in order to upgrade it to the new dx versions you had to add 25 bucks every time they came out...and there is a 300 dollar mail in rebate :)

So... you're saying it's $1200, and to get the dx10 version I just need to toss in an extra $25? Or will the new card cost $1225? If it's the latter, than still a big hell no.

Now to make this thread a little more interesting, why don't you propose a better deal? Something that YOU would have trouble deciding on because right now, this deal is crap.
