I'll be the leper... I'd do it, if it would do DX10. Also consider, that even if it didn't do dx10, any DX10 game would be backwards compatible w/ dx9 hardware, and you would still get your 60fps w/ 6xAA 16xAF, 1600x1200. You just wouldn't get pixel shader 2.86543. Big deal. It would last you through several upgrades too.

Vonkhan would do it too.

i think in the long run you would save money, i mean the leap from dx8 to dx9 was 70 bucks...may take a few generations, but hey 🙂

Lets say there is a video card on the market that does the following:

60 fps, no ups, no downs, any settings you wish (max res, aa/af, etc...)

This thing stays at 60 fps no matter WHAT game your playing....it never goes up, never goes down, ALWAYS 60 fps...

Now besides this card, you have the cards that are already on the market...the 9800 and everything thats already available...which card would you pick if the hypothetical card above cost 1,500$? It comes in agp and PCI express form-factor...and is same price for either form...

The catch is, it only does this on dx9 apps and previous, once dx10 comes out the card is shit...would you buy it?
