Hypothetical question: If you had $20,000 to spend...

...what would you spend it on? Note: I said spend, not invest/save/pay bills/etc. Just a wish list, if you will. $20,000 to splurge, would it be gone in a week after a spending spree or a vacation? Or would you go for more of a long-term item like a car? A new econobox or a classic musclecar? Decisions, decisions...

Pay off a car loan and my student loans.

$500 a month in debt repayment I could kiss GOODBYE!

Let's see...since I just bought a house I could gut the place, not that it needs it. New designer windows and doors, whole-house paint job, all new carpetting, high-zoot Weber grill, teak outdoor patio set, furniture shopping spree at Crate and Barrel. What was that again? $20K. Hmmm, that's nothing really. 😉

I would gift my kids and a couple people I'm close to and go take a much needed vacation far,far away 🙂

[edit] I would give it *all* to charity spread evenly over a WTC widows' charity, a veterans' charity, a handicapped kids' charity, and a breast cancer charity

I would install central air instead of having to use window air conditioners

I would replace my deck with a larger one and put a hot tub on it

I would buy a fridge and put a tap on the side for my basement

Since you said spend and not invest/save,etc.

$1000-2000 for new mountain bike (my new interest haha)
$18k or so on high end sentra

OR

$1000-2000 on new mountain bike
$500 on computer upgrade
$2500 on bigscreen TV
$15k on new low end sentra

<< I will go to spring city, TN to beat the crap out of a troll. >>

That's outside of Oak Ridge, isn't it? I here the trolls glow in the dark there...

$7,000 to spend on a trip to Hawaii for three weeks.
$5,000 to spend in Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, and any other European country for two weeks
$8,000 to buy furniture for my house and a new bed for my wife and I.

Awe crap. You said spend...not save. Reading comprehension - 1.

Okee...

$1000 on nice digital camera and lots of accessories.
$1000 for fiancee's wedding ring.
$500 for my wedding ring.
$500 for nice home theatre sub upstairs.
$1000 for the sofa that we want in the basement.
$1000 for a home theatre setup in the basement.
$1000 in landscaping around the house.
$2000 for hottub around house.
$1000 for misc. interior decorating around house.
$5000 to put in hardwood floors.
$1000 to upgrade sound system in my car.
$1000 on his and her's kayaks.

Remaining 4 g's would go to wedding fund.

i'd pay off all my debts...
well... 20k won't be enough...
but i'll definately use it to get that off my butt as much as possible.

i would buy a fully loaded nissan altima 3.5SE and take out 5K out of my own pocket

thats what i'm currently saving for right now

You stole my answer of ale and whores. :frown:

I'd say leather couches, a big-ass TV, and a slew of mules, which I would train to attack intruders.

<< Are you looking for advice? That will cost you $20,000. 😀 >>

No, just entertainment for a few more minutes until my weekend -really- starts. But it's kind of an exercise that I bounce around in my head ever so often - what could I do with $??? number of bucks. Kind of a way to set your goals - things you really want/need vs. the temporary wish list stuff. Several years ago I made a list of everything I wanted to buy (at the time). Since then I've either bought those things or my interests changed to the point that the purchase was no longer 'necessary'. It's a great way to judge how you are doing in relation to the things that are important to you or interest you (not just material goods, obviously, but that's all I'd thrown into this thread)

$10,000 down on my next car (~2000ish Nissan Maxima.)
$1,500 on a 32" high def TV for our den (nothing bigger will fit in the armoire)
$5,000 towards the materials for a new deck/screened porch/storage room beneath.
Remainder towards a vacation and charity.

<< i would get a breast reduction. i can't stand my man boobies... :disgust: >>

Too much information! :disgust: Have you tried push-ups (the exercise, not the garment...)?

mules, thats lame! i would use shetlon ponies, they would be black and i would feed them the meat of other horses, they would be my elite guards and would attack any one who wronged me.
