Hurt neck...

I hurt my neck. I don't know how, I must have slept on it wrong. It's usually easy for me to crack it too and feel better, but if I try to crack it with my hands, it just hurts more and/or the muscles get even tighter.

I can't turn my head to the right at all, and only a little to the left. Even sitting in a car hurts when I go from stop to start at a light because it puts pressure on my neck and makes it hurt. It's hard getting out of bed in the morning because if I simply sit up without using hands, it puts strain on the neck.

I must have slept on it wrong, as this only started happening Monday night into Tuesday morning when I woke up.

Any ideas on how to remedy this? At what point do I go to my MD?

That happened to me every once in awhile for the longest time until I eventually got sick of it and started looking into why it was happening. I eventually narrowed it down to my pillow. I'm a side sleeper, it turns out soft pillows aren't supportive enough for me, side sleeper need firmer pillows. I learned pillow types are sold based on why type of sleeper you are, I didn't realize that previously as I thought it was just personal preference and softer pillows were always better right? Apparently not. After switching out my pillow to a firm model, the problem has never reoccurred. I'm not sure if your case is the same but it's something to consider.

Try a hot shower to loosen the muscles and see if a pain reliever helps. As someone else suggested, you can try changing pillows. If you don't see significant improvement soon, then see your doctor.

You can get custom made pillows as well, I have one I was measured for by my Naprapath from foot levelers: http://www.footlevelers.com/products/cervical_support_pillows.php
