Hurricane Henri possible direct hit for Southern New England *(NOT Nebraska!)

Hurricane watches issued for parts of Northeast coast as Henri makes move to north

Been quite awhile since Sandy and we're WAY past due.... I don't usually panic over stuff like this but I'm not psyched.

🙁

Really hoping this hangs a right out into the North Atlantic.

Cat 1 is nothing. Will see if it even hits. Like you said, it can still take the off ramp, and they often do. Projecting the worst case scenario gets the clicks though.

Remind me again... what was Sandy when she made landfall?

I was in my mom's condo on the shore of LI sound back then and it was some scary stuff seeing the storm surge. Forget waves its the whole damn ocean rolling right in.

Effects of Hurricane Sandy in NYC

Hope for the best.... plan for the worst.

I was confused for a moment, since people don't really refer to "southern Nebraska" often, but I suppose I don't run across "southern North East" much either.

How about "Southern New England" ?? 😉

(hurricane hits Nebraska we REALLY have a problem!)

I hit up Costco yesterday & I'm firing up my generator to test today. Got both cars gassed up. Charging up my USB travel batteries as well. I got a really cool one this summer that has a solar charger just in case. $42 with 26,800mAh:

Lots of cool features:

1. Big 26,800mAh battery (can charge up a big phone 6 times)
2. Solar charger on top
3. Qi wireless charger (just drop your phone on top to charge!)
4. Two USB outputs plus a USB-C output (also charges it up!) with 3A output
5. Has an LED flashlight with SOS blink feature

These are really handy when flying, camping, and for power outages!

How long do it take something like that to charge on the built in solar? Seems hopelessly small panel to do it.

Good to see the Pocket Rocket come back from the grave to punish Boston for the Pacioretty hit. FUCK BOSTON.

Sandy was a cat 2 off the east coast and was the largest Atlantic cane on record.

I would guess Henri's effects won't be so widespread. However, if it does make landfall, the localized wind damage will obviously be pretty intense (compared to Sandy).

No idea how storm surge will compare.

Awesome! 😀

I do believe you have personally increased the odd's of the storm COMPLETELY MISSING Connecticut dramatically!

😉

WE just had a tropical depression (Fred) come through here. Lives were lost, towns flooded, businesses heavily damaged, people still missing, dozens of bridges out, many homes washed away... Only idiots would say a CAT 1 is "nothing"

No kidding ... I just got done watching video of a massive wall of water washing away an entire trailer-park in NC.

😳

Sandy wasn't even technically a named storm when it hit in NJ but rather a "sub-tropical depression" and it wreaked havoc too.

In fact the some of the worst weather I've seen in my life originated from plain old random events.

I sold my Mustang to Vroom for an insanely inflated price, so you're going to have to solo that one 🙂

Dude no joke I was considering it too, used cars are selling like CRAZY right now! Unfortunately they said I wouldn't see a Bronco until 2023 so I'm gonna keep driving it for awhile haha. What did you get for a replacement?

I'm somewhat-fairly-certain it's a useless panel haha. So, my EDC is an insulated lunchbox. I charge the battery at home every night & then pop it in my bag when I wake up. The Qi wireless charging feature works really well, so if I'm stuck in a long meeting or something & my phone's juice is running low, I can literally just drop it right on top to charge. I've tested leaving it outside my front door for a day, but it's hard to tell how much capacity it gets because there are only 4 charging bars on it. I suspect it's really just a trickle charge that's cool to have but only good in like, extreme emergencies. I looked through some Amazon Q&A's to see if anyone had deets on the solar charge time, but info seems pretty scary. Fun feature to have available tho! (IF it works! lol) It's really saved me a lot of headaches having it in my lunchbag tho, because I randomly get stuck places where I'm on a support call or something & need that extra juice. I do carry an extra charging cable for my phone with it in the bag as well, as it charges faster if I need to amp up a little quicker.

A blue Kia Stinger GT. It's almost as fast, but has room in the back seat for my kid 🙂

NIce ride! 🙂

Overall much more "liveable" car then a rear-drive Mustang IMO especially in any kind of snow country. I test-drove a black one when I was shopping for my daughters Subaru in late 2019. (assuming you went with the AWD version)

Hah, I test-drove the V6 a few years ago & it was bananas:

The blue is the right color for it, congrats!! Also pics or ban! 😉
