When I did a stent at the home office in Anaheim CA for a little over 2 years, I had all kinds of preconceptions about OC. I knew that it had been famously conservative, with congress critters like B2 Bob Dorman. Several of the nations defense contractors had facilities all through out OC, of which I was working for one of them. At the same time I was moving into an area where locally (Anaheim) I was in the minority (not being Hispanic). Well, the being a minority thing feeling really disappeared as it just became a non-issue. Learned to love my favorite breakfast place, great service, and prices, and it had mostly Hispanic clientele.
Anyway, Sanchez (D) had recently been elected to the district I was living in, and for the most part the area seemed to have moderated some of it's extreme conservatism. The OC Register was the local rag. It was only useful due to the Fry's ads. Read the LA Times.
I enjoyed the area, for the most part. Too many people packed into one place, but you have no excuse to be bored.

Conservatism is all about the fear of change, that change will bring on a worse condition than the present condition they think is already bad enough. When they psyc themselves into a psychotic lather like we see happening all over the world today, they become the agents of too rapid change and liberals, not used to slowing things down and inept at that task start losing their own shit.
