On one hand, this looks really bad Joe. Wtf. You expressly said you wouldn't do this. I thought you wanted to hold yourself up to a higher standard.
On the other hand, Hunter has already been marked as a target by Mango Mussolini and his GQP thralls. The courts have been corrupted and Trump wants to not only return the DoJ to it's previous place of personal subservience, he aims to put a partisan toolbag like Kash Patel in charge of the FBI. Fuckin Constitutional crisis right there and he's not even in office yet. I can see a father taking a good hard look at what might happen in January and wanting to give his already targeted son the best chance he can get. Maybe a majority of American voters demonstrating they don't give a single shit about executive behavior had something to do with this reversal, idk.

Polis's comment ignores all the context: Hunter was effectively prosecuted in a carryover witch hunt from the end of the Trump administration, for crimes that would rarely end up being charged or brought to trial. And it was only prosecuted because it was Biden's son and they wanted to damage him politically.

Well, for starters, the idea that this pardon is any sort of "precedent", as if US Presidents (of both parties) haven't been giving dubious pardons to their friends and supporters and donors for a long time already. That ship sailed long ago.
