Huge cheers as Obama visits Washington Post

Obama at the Washington Post

Obama arrived at the Washington Post headquarters today, as covered in priceless pool report by the New York Times Helene Cooper.

After three and a half hours at his transition office, PEOTUS obama took another 6 minute ride through washington, arriving at 157 pm at the nondescript soviet-style building at 15th and L street that houses the washington post.

Around 100 people--Post reporters perhaps?--awaited PEOTUS's arrival, cheering and bobbing their coffee cups.

Pool is holding in a van outside, while Mr obama does his washington post interview, and will exercise enormous restraint by ending report before saying what really thinks about this turn of events.

Is Cooper bitter about the Times still not getting an interview?

UPDATE: ?There?s no reason to think there were any reporters cheering," said a Washington Post spokesperson, adding that there are "a lot of people who work in the Post building who don?t work in the Post newsroom.?

Oh c'mon. I'd be cheering too if he walked into my office.

It's the president elect for heaven's sake.

Would you get a thrill running up your leg as well? This is a journalistic office, people should be more professional.

He's not touring some diner or tractor factory out in the sticks - he's touring The Washington Post. They meet world leaders on a regular basis.

No, he's a terrible human being.

Depends on if you are female or not. Have you seen the tabloid pics lately? There apparrently is a segment of the population that just eats it up... 😛

Like it has been said, TWP has leaders visit like this semi-frequently. Since he is a new president and hasn't really had the chance to screw up the job (yet), it isn't really surprising that there is a good amount of goodwill towards the man. I don't see the outrage here...

after having the Brat prince Bush & his eloquence in office for 8 years, i'd cheer for Elmo if it meant he's replacing Bush.

?Mission Accomplished? is my title for that photograph. I think they?re just happy that they got the job done. The media was an instrument to drive public opinion, as it always is, this past election.

Bush has a 27% approval rating. I guess that makes 73% of the country biased.

yet somehow the librul media couldn't get the last 2 dems elected president. its funny like that. Also funny how the media was calling hillary the annointed one for about a year before barack won the first primary. you have seriously selective reading/hearing/observing

Well it looks like President Obama will be no Richard Nixon who put reporters he did not like on enemies lists.

It may not buy Obama a pass in terms of editorial policies, but if he signals administration access, it may allow some more fair minded but still hostile reporters to check out their theories, and reduce
some of the wild eyed conspiracy theories.

It still will not slow Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter types, but at least it is saying no one is excluded from the Obama table.

Barack Obama, didn't your mommy tell you you should be just like Richard Nixon?

Obama shuts out Journalists, he only allows pre-picked ones to ask him questions

The press corps, most of us, don't even bother raising our hands any more to ask questions because Obama always has before him a list of correspondents who've been advised they will be called upon that day.

I don't think that Conservatives realize how most people commonly react to a very popular and liked President(-elect).

They wouldn't like him so much if they realized how expensive his inauguration will be!!!!111!ONE11!! THE HORROR!!!!111!1

Most Presidents get some breathing room in the first few weeks of their government. But, the right wing crusaders for fascism started 8 weeks ago with the criticism of Obama. Looks like it's going to be a long 4 years for Obama.

I wish him well, and voted for him, but I'm going to be watching carefully. My fear is that he's going to be too easygoing about the sins of this past administration. Hang 'em high and make examples of those bastards. I'd love to see them make Rumsfeld's life miserable.

They'll be in the tank for him as long as the American public is. What a lot of you don't understand is they play what sells not the other way around.

To a degree that's true, but in addition to catering to what the public wants, they also influence what the public wants. They are (and have been) a cheering section for Obama all along, just as most of the media outlets have been. Don't think there's going to be *any* real media scrutiny on the actions of this new administration.....

I think there will be media scrutiny.. like how toned his abs are and how well his daughters are doing in school. And people will love it! So much that they won't care that we have to volunteer free labor in order to go to college now! 🙂

Exactly. That 3 weeks of Rev Wright videos aired on the news networks 24/7 and written up in every paper? That was done out of love. When they reported on Bittergate ad nauseum, they thought that was good for his image. When they basically ignored his nomination acceptance speech in favor of showing Palin's smiling face for a month, that was designed to help him. It all makes perfect sense...
