Odd, nobody complains about Bush getting cheers when he visits the military.

That's because he's their boss? They have to be partial.

I'd say they respect the position, not necessarily the man in that position.

Of course, righties love (well, haven't heard it lately) to brag about any stories of the military disrespecting President Clinton or other democratic leaders.

Snivelling and whining on the rightwing- this is a surprise?

Today's financial situation is a lot more dangerous and damaging to a lot more Americans than 9/11 ever was, but, at the time, the wingnuts raved about how any of the media who didn't immediately become Bush lapdogs were anti-american terrarist! sympathizers...

Shee-it, Sherlock, W's lap was so full that there wasn't even room for another pomeranian... and it showed in the political coverage of the 2002 and 2004 elections, in case nobody else noticed... Anybody not showing the proper deference, not willing to act as a propaganda mouthpiece, got no lap time, no "access"- remember?

Years of that have built a certain resentment among the presscorps- rightfully so. So when they meet the new guy, the guy who might do things differently and who's shown every indication that he will, they cheer... This is a surprise?

Maybe they'll get the straight story for a change, and maybe the national security blanket won't cover everything including the CinC's preference in asswipe...

Just imagine how bad your boy, Dubya, will look with an honest implementation of the FOIA, guys... despite the shredders and drive erasers running overtime since the election... Heh. I can't wait.

The fear of emotion is the result of self hate. Self hate is a feeling, so feeling anything is dangerous. We were born with a capacity for perfect joy, it's what we were when we were born. But you quickly learned you were not to feel or show that joy the the dead monsters you walk among. All feeling must be crushed and we must never feel again. We must never allow any joy to creep in. It was when you were most joyous that you were killed.

So take it from one older and wiser now, one who is quite dead and will never feel again:

"Do not allow any exuberance into your life. You will just get hit in the back of the head. You will only wind up disappointed and bitter."

I dunno- do you have anything to add other than snide derision, any other plausible explanation for the observed behavior?

Probably not...

Of course they cheered! We're about to have a president who doesn't approve of paid shills who moonlight as gay escorts posing as actual journalists. Why wouldn't you cheer for someone who marks a departure from disgraces which tainted your profession?

Plus, when you deal in a heavy amount of English both written and spoken, it's a huge bonus that the guy at the fulcrum of so many issues you write about actually has a functional command of the language.

On a related note, there will probably be fewer gay escorts spending the night at the WhiteHouse too, so it's a two-fer!

You need to see a shrink. Seriously, most people dont' walk around with impending doom and bitterness all the time.

The media themselves admit they are pro-Democrat much more so than pro Republicans. That you deny that their bias leaks into their reporting in subtle and not so subtle ways goes to show how utterly blind and or how big of a liar you are.

Libruhl Media! Libruhl Media!

It's the lamest battle-cry on the planet. The Media is far from liberal, as Umbrella 39's link, above, offers.

In the wake of 9/11, the Bushistas and conservative thinktanks played the media the way Eric Clapton plays the guitar, even after the Dems' victory in the 2006 midterms. And the Media doesn't like it- they're feeling a little bit tawdry and dirty as a result. Imagine that.

It's always convenient to invoke the ol' conspiracy theory, so popular on the right fringe, that the tens of thousands of people involved in the Media are out to get the poor, downtrodden conservatives. It's obviously inconvenient to examine the truth of the matter, to look at the way the Bush Admin has used and abused the Media, attempted to render it into a simple propaganda organ of the Right. Hell, the whole Talon News/ Jeff Gannon bit is just the tip of the iceberg, one facet of how far they've been willing to go to misrepresent themselves and their goals to the public...

Hehe, I need a shrink. Do you believe in Armageddon?

Oh c'mon. I'd be cheering too if he walked into my office.

It's the president elect for heaven's sake.

Would you get a thrill running up your leg as well? This is a journalistic office, people should be more professional.

Maybe a gerbil instead of a thrill...
