Battery life of less than a day on 4G is disappointing...

You can turn on/off 4G with one button so why wouldn't you to save battery life ??
Its not like calls when you don't know when its coming.
You know when you are using data heavily so turn on 4G when neccessary.
I have the HD2 and the battery is only 1230mah and its fine for me.
The EVO is 1500mah. It should be more than fine.

I already compared it to iphone, droid, and droid incred, all of which it's still cheaper than

sprint usually gives us 2 free strawberry lillipops. Now they're giving us just one strawberry lollipop. It's still better than no lollipops from ATT/Verizon ;)

Good analogy.
I was still so looking forward to the 2 lollipop though.
Hess snatched a lollipop from all of us.

The $10 bucks doesn't matter to me as long as it'll make the cheaper EPRP plan qualify for Sprint Premiere.

As far as I can tell on the EPRP FAQ, EPRP qualifies for Premiere if you're spending 69.99/mo or more. Would be very odd if this $10 surcharge didn't count.

I was actually considering going with the non-EPRP plan before the $10 surcharge just to get premiere, so I guess it makes no difference to me there.

I'm not sure yet. I have always bitched about sprints coverage, but my friend lent me his phone yesterday and i had great coverage everywhere.

That said I have a few concerns.

1) Android 2.2 will have wireless hotspot support. Currently sprint said they want to charge you 30.00 a month to do this with the evo on 2.1. Does this mean the evo will never get 2.2 with free hot spot support?

2) How hard will this thing be to root?

3) This is a ethical problem and not a technical one. Why is sprint charging 10.00 more a month for this phone when there isn't a 4G network in a 100 miles of where I live? It's like a privilege fee for having the phone.

I'm on the fence. I know I'm replacing my iphone 3gs this year. I'm sick of apple's practices. I just don't know if it's going to be the EVO or the N1.

Wireless hotspot will be shut-off on all carriers and they will make you pay for it. It has support built in so the carriers can offer that as an option to pay for but anyone thinking that they are going to get it for free is naive. Not on ANY carrier.

The phone isn't even out yet and you're asking how hard it is to root??? Why don't you let the phone come out first and give SDX a week.

Sprint's $10 extra is still cheaper than everyone else out there. You gotta pay to play and everyone needs to stop complaining cus you are still paying less than every other carrier out there. If you want the phone you gotta pay extra. Of course none of us want to pay more but we have to so people need to stop complaining about it.

I loved my pre... never failed me ever, since I had it day one... WebOS is still one of the easiest and best OS I have used (including the older PalmOS, Win Mobo, iPhone, Android) but that's just my opinion.

Too bad I got hit by a tide at the ocean while my phone was in my pocket! Now it's dead, and I'm using my friend's Centro... God... who can use this thing? The battery life is even worse than the pre!

Well, I guess I'm forced to upgrade to the 4G!

Reminds me of when I killed my awesome Audiovox SMT 5600 during beach week. That was a major bummer.

I'm with you on the first two points, but sprint + 10.00 is not cheaper then tmobile with a nexus one.

I don't need unlmited mobile to mobile minutes. I use about 200 minutes a month. So I can get a 69.00 plan from tmobile.

I spent some time talking to sprint customers tonight, I'm leaning more and more to a N1.

I did around here tmobile actually has great service. So does ATT. Verizon is weak around here (drops a lot of calls with full bars) and sprint tends to drop a lot of calls on the highway, but has good around town coverage.

It's a tough choice because I'm going to be stuck with this phone for a while. So I dont' want to screw it up.

How did you get $69 ??
$39 + $10 texting + $30 data = $79.

you know, the phone wasn't the worse part... my canon 5D mark 2, and my 24-70 f/2.8L, plus 2 + multi-max pocket wizard, and a 580ex II was a bag when the tide came in. This was in malibu, where there were A LOT of rocks. Yeah, I lost my tripod, which would've paid for the phone :(

the pod is now somewhere floating out to sea...

The $10 charge doesn't count. It has to be $69.99 plan price. Add-ons don't count to bring it up to that price. On the flip side if you have a corporate discount or recurring credit that takes you bill under that amount they don't take it away. It's just based off of whatever your plan base price is.

Of course none of us want to pay more but we have to so people need to stop complaining about it.

I hope people don't stop complaining. They should complain as often as possible, especially to Sprint, from CSRs to letters addressed to executives. Maybe it's not obvious, but the more public pressure they face, the slower they'll institute additional fees in the future.

If everyone smiles and says thanks when Sprint had claimed there would be no additional fee for 4G and then changed their minds, then they'll be delighted to add another $10 fee in a few months for "network infrastructure expansion" or all post Windows Mobile 7 phones, etc.

This $10 fee brings Sprint in line with T-Mobile at the bottom tier price range. Sprint is in rough financial shape and I can't really see them continuing to compete in the market while lowballing the competition.

Network buildout doesn't come free, yah know.

Wait, your right. I was looking at the wrong line.

500 Minutes
Talk + Unlimited Text + Unlimited Web 59.99 a month.

So 20.00 cheaper.

You have to buy the N1 for $539 to get that price. If you go with EPRP, then you only pay $69 with sprint. And pay only pay $200. So, if you get EPRP, you will pay $10 more per month for 24 months = $240, which means you will end up spending $100 less than if you buy the N1 full price.

And, if you call HTC support, one the first choices you get is if you have an N1 or another phone. There's a reason for this...

Not comparing apple to apple.
You have to get the phone at unsubsidized price to be on the Even more plus plan.

Just got my phone from someone who went to I/O. Traded him straight up for my T-Mobile N1, which works in his home country in Europe.

It's as good as everyone says it is. Tons of garbage apps though.

Speaking of network buildout, where are ATT and VZ going to get the money to build out the non-existant capital intensive LTE? Both have ~$3b cash and >$60b in debt.
