I'm tempted to go for Peabody Conservatory and Eastman School of Music too, just for the hell of it. :) Who knows...

Yeah, I know that's a lot of schools. If you think I'm crazy, just remember that to get into the school of music, you have to audition. So I have to fly/drive to all these places, too.

Your turn...

The ones I'm pretty sure I'll be applying to (expectations on acceptance in parentheses):

UC Berkeley (probably)
MIT (maybe/doubt it)
CalTech (maybe/doubt it)
UCLA (almost definitely)

Other "maybes" include:

UCSD (definitely)
Princeton (maybe/doubt it)
Stanford (maybe/doubt it)

Maybe (probably) some others, we'll see. I'm relying on UC Berkeley and UCLA for acceptance (UCB preferred), and hoping for MIT and/or CalTech acceptance. SD is safety, the other private schools I'm not sure if I'd go to (over UCB) even if I got in, though it'd be a tough pick.

Got one of those 4.2 GPA, 1450 SATs up your sleeve eh? Good luck. I rarely ever see people say, "UCLA(almost definitely)" or "UC Berkeley (probably)". Damn mutant HS students, hehe. :disgust:

What makes you so confident that you'll get into UCLA?

Actually, I'm getting pnwed by the app fees. My parents were like "we'll help pay for whatever you decide, but we're not paying all those app fees." lol. Actually it's kinda nice, if you do them online, a lot of them are free. Lawrence, NIU, Depauw, Wesleyan, etc, have all been free so far.

no juliard?

I've been to Juilliard, worked with some people there. Even if I could get in there/afford to go there, I wouldn't want to.

IU but no P-due? For shame

IU is ranked #2 in the nation for both piano and general music studies, behind only Juilliard. ;)

Edit: IU is ranked #2 for music? I didn't know that, hm....

Only a junior, but I'm preparing for UWaterloo and several other Canadian univs that I don't remember offhand, and also shooting off some backup apps to every border school on the American side that I can find. I *WILL* live in Canada, not even college admissions boards can deny me my rightful nationality.

Rice U (early decision)
If I don't get in:
U of I Urbana Champaign
Purdue
Case Western
Tulsa (my counselor tells me I would go there free and get special treatment for four years . . . could be a good deal)
and if all those fail me, I'll just go to Rolla. (please God don't let that happen!)

hehe:

Specs:
1530SAT (780math, 750 verbal)
800SATII Physics
770SATII Chem
710SATII Writing
first honors at one of (if not the) best local HS (taking the hardest possible course selection, with unweighted grades)
2 time lead design on robotics team (also one of the founders . . )
four years of Chinese (and president of Chinese club this year . . .) <- I've been told that this is my saving grace for college acceptance . . well, I guess we will see.
some 'real' work experience (including last summer's full time job at a machine shop (one of the robotics team's sponsors))

and other stuff.

I am really hoping to get into Rice. Damn, I gotta get my App to the guidance dept. by Oct 8th and I haven't started it . . . . awww.
