Me:

Lawrence University-Conservatory of Music
Northern Illinois University-School of Music
University of Minnesota (Twin-Cities)-College of Liberal Arts
Depauw University-School of Music
Indiana University-School of Music
Lamont School of Music
University of Illinois-School of Music
Illinois Wesleyan University-School of Music

I'm tempted to go for Peabody Conservatory and Eastman School of Music too, just for the hell of it. :) Who knows...

Yeah, I know that's a lot of schools. If you think I'm crazy, just remember that to get into the school of music, you have to audition. So I have to fly/drive to all these places, too.

Your turn...

I didn't apply, I just went to the community college down the street. After that, I'm going to apply the the FSU campus down the street (it's only for students in their 3rd year or higher)

...one word... actually two... or 3... In-State Tuition... UD is the only delaware school worth attending... and a lot of the local scholarships and so forth you can only use for instate schools... and MBNA also offers a great grant program where you can get up to 7k a year... so if I luck out and get a good amount from MBNA, a couple grand from the school for academics (about 2k is typical for my 1250 sats and near 4.0 gpa) i should end up playing less than a grand or so a year....

but yeah... it's really a pretty nice school... living in DE you take it for granted, but seems like out of our state it has a pretty good rep... you see a whole mess of people from NJ and NY up there

U Illinois at Urbana-Champagne
Penn State Univ
NC State Univ

MIT is like...possible? I hope? It's my dream school...but lord knows if I'll make it or not. I think I can make it into Cornell...I went there over the summer and talked to the Director of Engineering Undergrad Admissions...and impressed him...he basically told me like all the things I need to do to get my app stamped with a big fat ACCEPT. hehe

Have you looked at the University of Cincinnati's CCM? From what I heard about the students here, it's very very hard to get in.

Yeah, I know a few people there. Haven't really looked at going there, though. The thing is, there's about a thousand places that could be great, but at some point I just had to decide "I'm auditioning at THESE places" lol, else I'd have to audition about 100 times.

Anyway, grad school is more important for music majors. At this point, the important thing is to find a teacher who you really like (cause you're gonna be in their studio for 4 or 5 years), and soak up as much info and grow as much as you can as a musician. Grad school is the time when the name of the school on your resume actually starts to matter. (This is what I've been told by the college profs I've worked with, anyway).
