anyone knows how this compares to turion 64 1.8? I like this because there is an option to upgrade and customize. geforce 7400 alone is worth a lot more plus free all in 1 AR...can i have more feedback on this? still debating whether i should wait for another dell deal or go with this. after all, school has started already. i need it for the graphic design.

It's hard to say what exactly you are looking for. For all intents and purposes, this is a solid laptop with the configuration you gave it. You're definitely going to want to stick to any configuration with the 7400 and 1GB of ram.

The Core Duo is a little better than the Turion 64 due to the dual core. If you were to compare this to a Turion 64 X2, then the similarity would probably be almost nill.

You can configure a Dell at or about almost equal specs, so the call is yours. Personally I like Toshiba's build quality a little better than Dell's, but you get a little bit more value going with the Dell.

Current dell prices goes over $900 with 20%+$off coupon for the similar configuration. Dell doesn't even offer 7400...only 7300 although 256 ram.

Does anyone know when Dell will have a good deal?

i think its a good deal, the 7400 is a lot more powerful than the graphic chip in that other laptop the other person mentioned..

Woo...I'm considering it although it doesn't have all the free upgrade in ram, hdd, MCE.
I like 14inch and light weight more. Only reason I'm considering instead of deciding is 7200 instead of 7400...but Dell never has this in their 14in laptop....hmm definitely worth it.

I can't decide between integrated or 7200 on the DV2000T. I'm NOT a gamer and battery life is more important to me. So if the 7200 doesn't use a lot of battery power then I'll probably get that.

The 5000 and 8000 series HP notebooks have major issues with the keyboards that HP cannot or will not fix. The issue is supposedly due to the cheap case, but HP won't admit there is an issue.

http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=70686

I was thinking of telling my gf to buy one of these until I stumbled upon the keyboard issue and decided not to take the chance so I ended up telling her to grab an E1505 instead.

Edit: I've heard the 2000 series may have the same issue as well.

What major issues are there? That thread is just people talking about "the major keyboard issue." We've reviewed the dv5000z and just finished reviewing the dv2000z; I've used numerous other HP notebooks and my gf has owned two. The keyboards are some of the best in a consumer notebook

I actually don't have the TDP of the Go 7200, but the 7300 is only 7W:

Average power consumption should actually be near IGP levels, esp on the 90nm process. I'd go for it, esp since you get PureVideo and all with it.

Lifted, he's looking for what problems the keyboard has...not saying that you said something wrong.

The only complaint I have noticed is sticky keyboard. I have had a few hp and had no problem. Hp offers 21 day full return policy...so i'm okay with risking it.

Heavliy considering 2000 because it looks very nice!!!! =P Rossman, you will not regret with 7200...I just can't handle integrated anymore no matter what i do. i multi task a lot.

Thanks for the info. I'm not completely sold on the DV2000T's keyboard and I hate the glossy touchpad.

I don't mind paying the $25 upgrade for the 7200 as long as battery life is not sacrificed.

What _IS_ the major issue? Does the keyboard spew acid in your face if you type on it too hard? Do the keys fall off? Does it look at you funny? WHAT?

Well the editor who wrote our review on the dv2000z left out any detail on the keyboard  but frankly, I've used HP's since the ze4000 AMD Athlon XP-M based models and all the keyboards have been above average. Not Thinkpad or Apple quality, but better than anything else in the price range.

As others have mentioned, HP has a 21-day return policy. Use it ;)

I also got in on this deal. I thought it was a pretty good deal. You can also sign up at www.fatwallet.com and get 3% back. I got 30.75 off, but have to wait 91 days to cash out.

Ok i found out. There is already a instant savings of 100 bucks. When you enter the coupon, the instant savings doesnt add on so this really is only 100 dollars off. Hows that for marketing? The coupon codes have to be entered when you enter your credit card information, careful not to click sumbit otherwise you cannot cancel your order.

I havent been able to replicate the op's price of 775 with free shipping as the instant savings and coupon DOESNT STACK.

Do the Home Store coupons work in the Educational/APP store? I thought APP was a subset of Home so it should work but I'm getting an invalid message. I'm using the code from NoteBookReview.com's deal page.

I double checked and indeed the Educational/APP/EPP site doesn't take the coupon. I made sure I'm over $999 before any price reduction and still no luck. So it is cheaper using the Home instead of the Educational.

Unfortunately, I can pickup a Dell with higher screen resolution and Core Duo 2 for less than the DV2000t with Core Duo (not Core Duo 2). I'd jump on the HP if the prices were more in line with Dell on the CPU as I think the build quality is probably better on the DV2000t than an E1404 (or whatever Dells model of the day is).
