Got 4 spindles at hanes mall in w-s, nc. Still 5 spindles on shelf, but as I was checking out manager stopped at register and said "How much are those? Any left in the back?"

I bought 2 spindles back when these were $10 and I've burned about 75 discs at 40x without a problem. I need to go check out my local Sears and get some more if they have any.

Sears in Southridge Mall in Milwaukee is OOS, after I picked up the last 2 spindles. Employee came over and said hey where'd you find those? I had to laugh three more came over and were all shocked at the price.

I'm in Richmond, VA

There are 5 sears scattered around Richmond

Chesterfield Town center: 0 (probably had something to do with the price tag saying 4.95)
Regency Square: 2
Cloverleaf Mall (runned down due to influx of poor people in the area): 6

So, 8 spindles isn't too bad on the way home.

I'm sending my parents to Southpark Mall, and Virginia Center Commons today to clean out the rest. So if you live in the Richmond area. don't you go there. :D

These cds are the best in my opinion. I can burn them at 40X and due to their thick cd surface, I'm not afraid of getting it scratched.

I could not believe this when I saw everybody talking about this offer. I just got back from King of Prussia, Pa. mall and indeed they do ring up at $4.97 per 50pack spindle. When I brought one to the counter to see if this was legit it rang up at that price even though the tag on the shelf says $29.99. I bought all 9 spindles they had. I have to admit that looking in this forum everyday can pay off.

Thanks

Deal's still on. Many places may be OOS (Out of Stock), due to high demand. Some are having massive amounts of luck, while others are getting shafted.

Yep just picked up two packs today and left 4. There are two areas that Sears stocks these, so make sure you check both areas...Mine were found in an obscure area located near some computer speakers, on a bottom shelf and had no pricing or sears label at all, I had to bring it over to the old lady working to scan the bar code on the manufacturer label and up popped the low price. My Sears is kinda junky and out of the times, they had clearence stuff all over in their electronic section and half it had no prices so you couldnt tell without getting the "old lady" to scan it, and I can tell she was getting annoyed after the 5th scan and I still had like 20 items, so I gave her a break and I will try back tomorrow :D Looks like they stuck out all their demos, returns, scratched etc...TVs, DVD Players, speakers, etc etc. hope I find a bargain. These CDRs are perfect timing since I have to copy the family reunion photos and send them out to like 80 people...GL all and thanks for the post! And don't read this daily, read this hourly! I missed out on the IBM 21inch Trins for $125 by like 1 min, had one in may cart but took to long to check out :p

Anyone else having a problem burning at 40x with these HP discs? I use Nero.

I just tried to burn a CD at 40x, but it is only letting me burn this at 16x on my 40x burner. Then, I put in the FujiFilm TYs, and it burned at 40x perfectly. Am I doing something wrong? How are you guys able to burn at 40x and 32x, etc.?

Thanks!

TDK 40/12/48B (Lite-On I believe)

How do I turn off auto-notification? What exactly is that?

an example of auto-notification (afaiK :)) is when one puts a cd in and it auto-starts the startup.exe on the cd (anybody please feel free to correct/clarify this). the problem is that programs like nero and clone cd like to have all of the resources associated with the drive in use (the better to avoid buffer underruns?). easy cd creator is the only program that seems to work fine with auto-notification on (i have nti, nero, ec, click and burn, b recorder gold, etc.)
would write more, but i'm probably wrong anyway :)
that lite-on should be able to burn those fine though. it's puzzling to me also :(
good luck

edit: i'm trying to remember how to turn it off in xp, but i'm having a little trouble :)
the other window oses all can be turned off by going into the properties of the drive in device manager and turning it off (along with turning dma off/on -- sometimes off works better depending on some other varibles) edit again: variables

What you're talking about is "autorun," right?

These CDs not being able to burn above 16x is not good :( I want to utilize my 40x :) What's weird is that supposedly the FujiFilms and the HP TYs are all the same disc, so they should be able to burn at 40x. Anyone else have a solution to this problem?

Thanks!

KCheng,

I have a new 48x24x48 Lite-On burner that can burn the FujiFilm TY (9/01) at only 16x, but my old Sanyo 24x10x40 burner can burn the same TY at 24x. The Lite-On can burn a blank cd that came w/ the retail box at 48x after firmware upgrade today, SS08 (40x at SS02). Different versions of NERO for both burners.

Latest version: 5.5.9.17

Weird, at www.ahead.de (Nero's homepage), I don't even see a version history of 5.5.9.2. Numerically speaking, I guess your version is newer, but their website says that 5.5.9.17 is the latest update.

For some reason, I just don't think it's the Nero version. I just don't understand why it is limiting the write speeds for the HP to 16x (sure, the package says 16x, but still...), while it does not limit the FujiFilm write speeds to anything. I can write to the advertised 24x Fujifilm TYs at 40x without a problem, but when I burn the 16s HPs, I cannot select any write speed higher than 16x.

Very odd...
