Im not lookin for an ultimate gamers rig or anything just something decent.

Any thoughts or advice is welcome and appreciated.

Rig

Some things that come to mind:

Your hard drive is VERY small for todays standards. I see you are getting 2...please tell me you are not raid 0'ing them. For $80 you can get a 250 gig drive.

Wait for the price slash when conroe comes out

Get AM2

Your case will come with fans, use the $10 to get a decent Hard drive

That's about all I Can think of at this moment

Excellent case choice. The bracket fan may be overkill since the case comes with a rear 120mm fan. I second the vote of just getting one bigger drive over the two smaller ones.

well i dont really need all the space, i dont even use 40 gig of space, i got two so it would be safe, one for storage other for programs, computer would be just like internet browsing light gaming, reviews of the videocard said they could play CoD2 and thats what i play, so i opted not to get a more expensive card

my other question was about my power supply, i no nothing of them and was wondering if it was a good choice and will it have neccesary connecters, i also wondered what way that fan pointed up or down, if it faces up will it get room for air?

then logic would tell you it points down 😉

Just get a 250 gig or so drive for $80 and partition it to look like 2

yea i guess that would be a stupid question huh, thought it couldnt hurt to ask though

does partitioning make it safe so that if one part like breaks i can still get data from the other, that was the whole reasoning behind two, one for data thats not replacable other for reinstallable programs

no but then again, you get 250 gigs vs. 80. Which is quite the difference.

Oh,and since you don't have much data, back up the important stuff on your DVD burner...

i dont need the 250, i dont even need 40, so why would i get the 250, thats what i dont understand, i can see most people need more but i just dont see what i would store on my computer to need that much,im not shooting down ure advice, just trying to present my point and try to understand yours, also is the 2 gigs of ram i need neccesary, is 1 gig good enough for me?

1 gig is fine for your level of gameplay.

What about when Windows Vista comes out and undoubtably takes all your HD space? What happens if your habits change and you start storing lots of music, pictures? What about after you install a couple games and start running out of room on your main drive? Theres a lot of cases that would make a 250 gig drive worth it.

i guess, i dont know anything about vista, does that take up much more space than XP, will that make things i have selected obselete or not usable? ull have to excuse my lack of knowledge, im just trying to learn

I don't know how much space it will take, but following in microsoft tradition it should be bigger and more bloated than ever.

Like I said, just back up your important data with your DVD burner since you don't have much data

ok, thanks, i just updated the wishlist with less ram and the 250 gig harddrive, got rid of the pack of case fans too(i just thought the more fans the better) probably overkill considering my modest setup

If you have the extra coin, I would recommend a 7600GT rather than the GS. It is a far more powerful card and will last you a lot longer, and it is undoubtedly the best bang for buck card available at the moment.

the best bang for buck is X1800XT and X1800XL comes second.

But actually best bang is Radeon 1900XT @ 325$, all others lag behind.

those are a bit out of my price range however

Evga GeForce 7600GT $139.99

I would get this graphic card instead because it has a better cooler and it's just the same price after rebate.

EDIT: Ok been looking over your setup, here's what you need to do.

Remove the case, 80mm fan, and power supply and add this. It comes with a power supply that is probably better than the one in your setup, and you don't need any extra fans with this. Also, this case is a better brand IMO. All the computers I've built use antec cases.

Next, remove those two DVD drives, and replace them with this. YOU DO NOT NEED 2 DRIVES!! Only 1. The reason I chose this drive is because it is simply one of the best out there. I have it in one of my computers and it's just awesome.
