Crescent, it's much easier for the average user to have the entire thing bundled together in a package. Less crap to worry about. I use freeware as well, and I like it, but I'm just thinking that it might not be so fun for Dave to have to download and maintain 4-5 programs when he can have just 1 program to maintain.

So, regardless of what you use, Iolo is still an awesome program if you want easy help. It's easy, potent and (IMO) better than Norton.

Yeah, I'm just worried that on your first build, you'll get a DOA (dead on arrival) motherboard, or something will be messed up. It's not uncommon, and it can be SO FRUSTRATING to have to send things back and wait even longer.

That being said, if you decide to build one, I absolutely support you. I don't always check these forums, but if you need any help, email me at JLewis1023@gmail.com I check that pretty regularly. I can give you advice or help, as can ALL of these people. In fact, most of these people probably know more than I do!

Good Luck man, and even if you want to build your own, just keep the Dell in the back of your head 🙂

thanks i appreciate your help, even if i seem to side with opposite of your oppinions, i definitly take what you say into consideration

Listen, I'm just saying that Dave might not want to deal with all of the crap that self-builds have. I know about them because I've built many. I mean, for 1029 buckaroos, he can have everything he'll need for 4 years, including a remote control. He could hook his computer up to a television and watch movies or just watch them on an awesome monitor.

Dave, if you custom build, OF COURSE we (and I) will support you! I'm just saying, even you called yourself "noobish" which can tend to spell trouble. That's all.

I'm going to bed now. I'm not going to argue about antivirus or pros/cons of computers anymore.
