every non overclocking system is quiet. A p4 overclocking system is quiet ( in resonable range ) too. I have a p4 1.6A@2.3 at frist i just put 2 case fan ....but not enough because of the videocard (g3 ti200) that i am overclocking ( 230/530) so i have to add another 2 fan in the front of my antec 1030. All my fans are vantec and panaflo ......... so no big deal. Still quiet.

Depends...overclocking a amd system u need more fans .
The temperature of the place u live .... During summer time, all of my friend with overclocking amd system have to run at default to make it stable. especially during humid weather ..... my room temperature is like 35-36 C ( never reach higher because i have a small aircon)

so ....every system can be quiet if not overclocking ...

TB 1.4GHz here with:
1x 92mm adjustable Enermax exhaust case fan (on minimum speed)
1x 80mm 12dB Papst vid card fan
1x 80mm 12dB Papst CPU fan on Alpha 8045
1x 80mm PSU fan (going to be replaced with 19dB Papst)

The noise I hear from my machine comes from two 7200rpm hard drives spinning idle.

Case temp 23C and CPU 48C

Antec 1040 case with single-fan PS
One Vantec 80mm Stealth exhaust
One Vantec 80mm Stealth intake
AthlonXP 1800 w/Thermalright AX-7 CPU HS with Vantec 80mm stealth on it.
Fan on GF3 is noisiest part of entire system!

Significantly quieter than the 4 Antec case fans and FOP32-1 w/5,000rpm Sunon fan!

My server is very quiet
One Vantec Stealth intake
PS has two fans, and is my "exhaust fan" (no other exhaust fans!)
TBird 1GHz with FOP32-1 on it.
System idles at 45C(CPU) and is almost whisper quiet. Almost...but it's stable and much quieter than before.

You CAN have a quiet AMD system. You just have to accept the fact it's going to run a bit warmer than it did with the four, 7,000rpm Deltas you had on there.
