I've been using my htpc to store all my movies and video on 10 hard drives (4 internally and 6 in a external enclosure) for a total of ~8tb. I'm looking to expand and the external enclosure connected via usb just isn't cutting it anymore. So I'm looking at building a new server.
This is strictly for storing files (movies, videos, pictures) that will be streamed to my htpc over a gigabit network. I'm looking for good throughput to prevent the video from studdering when it's sent over. I would like to keep latency as low possible, without going with SSD or RAID, so that browsing through the movies will be quick and snappy on the htpc. No games will be played nor any of the movies will be watched on it. Also I already have a cheap pcie video card laying around that I'll be using for video.
Will the parts I selected satisfy what I want to do?
