So one day, you (Yes, a hypothetical you a thousand years from now) traveling in an intergalactic cruiser happen to chance upon an uncharted world hosting a still primitive form of civilization.

How would you deal with the situation:

Help them advance

or

Play god and mess with their world

or

Do nothing at all and just leave them as they are.

This is very important information. 🙂

Personally, I'd look at their progress before deciding. Are they all around the world, with only a few small groups advancing? Are all the civilizations making any kind of progress? Or are they like prehistoric man, all tribal-like with no great accomplishments?

If they have actual civilizations and have progressed already, I'd make a visit to one of the more advanced ones. Share with them astronomical knowledge, and maybe make visits more than once to become a God to them. 😀 Maybe bring some buddies with me and be their Gods. Will give them a date that's thousands of years into the future as well, and instruct them to construct a calendar that ends on that particular date.

And maybe make a few visits in my flying ship closer to that date, with my far superior scanning technology to see what kind of hysteria, if any, that date that's kind of looming is causing in society. And start trying to make last minute plans as to what exactly, if anything, we'll do on that date.

If they are pissing me off as a species, in their refusal to make important progress? Maybe I'll fling a comet towards them. :laugh: Or I'll make a visit, proclaim they are all idiots, leave them with a few points of knowledge, never to return. Or even just let the date pass, and maybe a few months later make an unscheduled appearance and have some fun. 😀
