Hopefully Well, 9800Pro and P4 3.15Ghz. But it's been underperforming so i'm striping out some stuff i don't use, rebuilding my RAID 0 BIOS update, fresh drivers, and windows re-install and hopefully it should be up to par.

BTW it was like 3k under on 3DMark01 and like 800-1k low on 3DMark03

Well, I sure hope it runs alright on my rig, athlon 2100+ with a radeon 9500pro which will be overclocked to 325/300. Maybe then I'll actually install some new drivers for the best experience, I'm still running the Omega 3.4 drivers because i see no reason to upgrade.

Your computer has a serious problem, what I don't know, but yeah you should ask the futuremark forums about that.

You should be fine IMO. Honestly, your 9500 Pro should be able to run it just as well as the 9600 Pro, except for in a few areas because the optimizatios made to it were shown in one or two of the benchmarks... But you'll be fine, especially with that nice overclock!

IF the game is really appealing to me and it runs like shoit, I suppose I'll have to buy the appropriate hardware. Hardware is so cheap and disposable these days what's the fuss? You like Taco Bell? Add up all those receipts from last year. Think how much hardware you could buy with that money. Your work area will also be a lot cleaner as well! 😛

Yeah, I take it to an extreme for a little humour... But I really will buy an FX5900, no doubt. Even if it doesn't perform the best on HL2... meh, I'm cool with that.

At least you have been warned. Its not just HL2. Any DX9 game has the potential to have the same performance problem. It's already been shown to be true in other games. But hey, take another giant swig of that nVidia Kool-Aid and enjoy the card! 😛

Considering that even a Radeon 9800 Pro can only manage 60 FPS average at 1024 x 768 with no additional filtering effects, this game won't run well on anyone's systems. We really need the 9800TX/9900 and faster cards from ATi to truly start experiencing the game better.

As long as I can play America's Army w/ details cranked...

you can push the settings far enough back to run on a geforce classic, its one of the features of the graphics engine.

so if your system was built in the last 3 years i think youre safe.

This thread is just asking for nvidia vs ati flames.

My system is going to suck; I have an Athlon XP 1700+ Tbred B overclocked with PC3200 DDR, but ... an ATI Radeon 32MB SDR PCI. :Q

Yes, I am desparately in need of an upgrade, but I don't game enough (well, hardly at all) to justify the US$150 or so I'd need to pony up for a new card. 🙁

But what do you guys think about the next gen cards not using DDR II? It crossed my mind once about them actually using the same RAM speed because now its not memory bandwidth limited, instead the bottleneck is the gpu.

100% eye candy isn't the be all and end all of Half-Life 2, for me it's the gameplay. My P4 2.4GHz, 1GB RAM, 128MB GF4Ti4600 should cope fairly well

Fingers crossed I can run it at least 1024x768 and most settings set up and stuff, I wanna play this game in all its glory or not at all.
My sepc

XP2200
Crucial 512mb ram pc2700 333mhz
Radeon 9700 Pro 128meg

What do you think please?

Regards

You'll be fine, maybe not everything turned up, but otherwise it'll fare pretty well.

Hopefully things will be relatively smooth on my 2.4C @ 3.0GHz along with my 9500Pro. The 9500 Pro may be holding things back I guess, so if I can't play it the way I want to once i pick it up, I'll probably run out and grab a 9800 np or something... we'll see... no one really benches the 9500 Pro anymore now that the 9600's are out... I'll be interested to see the results considering its a full featured R300 core...

Dam was hoping to have 1024x768 all maxed apart from AA/AFF as I dont notice much diffrence with them on anyway.

ah heck..

Now I am upset.
DAM DAM DAM!!!!!!!!!

I'm guessing pretty well, i'm running my 2500+ and 9800np @ 2800+ and 9800 pro, so i should perform pretty closely to the benches everyone has been posting with the 2.8c and 9800 pro.
