How well do they screen you before a cruise?

Pat down? Cavity search? Dogs?

A...err....friend wants to know, because he leaves on a cruise this weekend.

Is this the typical "how do I bring my own booze" thread or are we talking drugs?

Yeah, if it's booze then meh, whatever, but if you're talking drugs then just... don't do it, man. Just don't.

The booze is taken care of already (filled up a couple screw-top wine bottles that are allowed on board with vodka).

Edit: That's two replies in a row that are assuming "drugs." Shame on you two, my friend is a professional.

Lets try it this way: "If Charlie Sheen were to go on a cruise, would he get to have all the fun he wanted?"

Metal detector. So you can sneak in alcohol if you don't wear skin tight clothes. Airport type scan your carry on.

They screen they hell out of your luggage. You won't get anything through that way unless you are very clever with repackaging water bottles and such.

Metal detectors, x-ray your stuff, pat down if need be. Pretty much the same as non-american airports.

You may be able to get away with a joint or two if they're very well hidden, but if you mean harder drugs then don't do it :p

will they check to make sure the bottles are unopened?

for his drugs, I recommend swallowing some condoms.

pro-tip: Lambskin goes down easier, and in case your internals are more sensitive to latex than you would have assumed, this just avoids further discomfort.

Hey I didn't assume anything, I covered both booze and drugs!

That's what I meant, it was all the standard stuff without the penis touching that you get in America

Seems like you could cover the end with wax, so it looks wax sealed.

I..er....he...screwed them on very tight, so even if they do a quick check, they will not open. The seal that was broken is very hard to see actually...turned out better than expected.

Used a tinted chardonnay bottle so it looks like wine.

Charlie sheen could probably get on a cruise and party... as long as he was smart enough to not leave the ship with party supplies in his pocket.

Hey, people pay good money to get their junk grabbed. I think the TSA should be commended for throwing in a freebie.

I rent a corker and heat wrapper for things like this. I make my own wine so I just put whatever in it, cork it, label it, wrap it so it look completely unopened. If I desire, I could put ..stuff... inside the cork.

Yep -

go to any wine bottling shop and buy yourself some corks and heat shrink wrappers - you dunk the bottle in hot water and its sealed.

can you bring any kind of food onto the ship? vacuum-sealed stash, buried in a jar of peanut butter (cut out a perfect hole in the middle, then recover and fix the surface of the peanut butter to look fresh), is a good way to smuggle....stuff.

note: I have never ever tried this before.

Seems like it would get caught in the x-ray.....

I am guessing bringing in any prohibited items...(trail mix, etc) requires it to be on your person.
