Be truthful, how much help did you get and from where?

I started with zip.... I had about 2 grand in bar mitzvah money that quickly dissapeared into tuition and books. I paid for 90% of my tuition from student loans, and 10% from summer income.

When I graduated I got a grand total of $1500 in graduation gifts.

I had zip. I financed about 95% of my education, while working full time to pay for my car and other expenses.

Parents couldnt help at all. Grandmother gave me a tiny bit.

Mostly I had scholarships.. my education was about 110k , I paid 20-30k , and financed the rest.

oh, graduation money? maybe a few hundred dollars in gifts, less I think.

I had about $5K in the bank when I moved out of my parents house, no student loans, and no car payments.

a year later, I still have about $5K in the bank ;) I took out a bunch of money to buy furniture, pay for my laptop, and take care of car repairs, though, so I'm just glad I've been able to put back what I've spent.

Got about $300 in HS graduation gifts, and that was it. My parents were poor. I paid for college myself via a really good summer job and loans. I was fortunate that college was actually affordable then.

I am lucky that we use to be quite poor (leaving Cambodia with only the clothes on our back literally to escape the fighting) and my parents worked hard for 10yrs. Dad worked the same job clocking 55hrs of manual work (panel beater, fitter in a garage) and doing Saturdays. Mom working from home. Parents saved money up and we didn't buy new clothes for years etc. Parents saved enough borrowed money to start a business.

Now 18yrs since we left Cambodia parents still working hard but my College fees, expenses (travel, books etc) are all paid for. They want me to have a good education and not stress out on working. My bro is also at College and they are paying for him.

I work in the business every Friday and Saturdya without fail though and have done so for the past 6yrs.

I won a scholarship for £1k for each year I am at College so that was a GREAT bonus as I didn't even know it was available

I'll graduate with loans over my head :) as my parents work hard and are able to. If they weren't I'd get a bunch of loans and pay it off fast as I'm good with my money.

Graduation gifts? Parents are paying for my holiday to Japan and HK.

Yes I am lucky and I know I am and I am grateful.

My parents had Florida Prepaid College program which is they pay for 4 years of tuition (not including fees and books) when I was a kid. You start it when your kid is young, and pay for the going rate of tuition at that time over 5 years, kind of like a loan. Whenever the kid decides to go to college, they will pay for whatever the rate is at the present time. So my parents paid like 5k for 4 years of tuition, and now tuition is about 5x times that here. :D

Then I have a 75 percent scholarship from high school for 4 years also. Both of these pay for all tuition and fees, and I get about 400 dollars back each semester for books. Basically enough for school. Then I work full time to pay for everything else. I'm very blessed in my situation. :)

Lucky enough to have my parents pay for my education and then lived at home for a year afterwards to save for a down payment.

I know I'm very lucky and I am humble.

Even if my parents couldn't pay I'd still go to College and get loans. I would be able to pay them off pretty quick imo as I'm good with my money.

Most of my friends parents are richer but they spend it on more stuff then my parents do. My parents are really tight with money in most places because people earn nothing in Cambodia and my parents hardly ever buy new clothes or shoes still. They'd rather save it for something else. That has saved a lot of money over the course of 18yrs.

I had nothing. I didn't want to get any money from my parents, so I've had part time jobs since I was 15. I make enough to pay off my tuition with no loans, plus have enough extra spending money
