I am lucky that we use to be quite poor (leaving Cambodia with only the clothes on our back literally to escape the fighting) and my parents worked hard for 10yrs. Dad worked the same job clocking 55hrs of manual work (panel beater, fitter in a garage) and doing Saturdays. Mom working from home. Parents saved money up and we didn't buy new clothes for years etc. Parents saved enough borrowed money to start a business.
Now 18yrs since we left Cambodia parents still working hard but my College fees, expenses (travel, books etc) are all paid for. They want me to have a good education and not stress out on working. My bro is also at College and they are paying for him.
I work in the business
every Friday and Saturdya
without fail though and have done so for the past 6yrs.
I won a scholarship for £1k for each year I am at College so that was a GREAT bonus as I didn't even know it was available
I'll graduate with loans over my head

as my parents work hard and are able to. If they weren't I'd get a bunch of loans and pay it off fast as I'm good with my money.
Graduation gifts? Parents are paying for my holiday to Japan and HK.
Yes I am lucky and I know I am and I am grateful.
