Ours was pretty dang good. First up neither my wife or I lost a close family member during the year for the first time in 6 years so thats a huge plus. Work is going very well and we visited 11 countries (7 new) and added a few states we hadn't been to together.

How was your 2017? (Hopefully it was good)

I'd say it was pretty good. Nothing bad happened, have all my family, have my house, and my job, my health and it was more or less status quo.

Can't really complain. 2017 brought us the most financial success we've ever had. My wife and I saw a counselor to help work out our marital problems and we are in a better place now then we have been in many years. My two sons are doing relatively well in school although my youngest continues to struggle but we are determined to help him find his way. My oldest is struggling in Spanish but has a head for math and the sciences and is doing well in his other courses. I'm proud of both of them.

2017 was a good year for my family. It has made my wife and I more determined than ever to make 2018 even better.

2017 was OK in the Boomer household. Not great, not terrible...but OK.

We're both in relative good health, money, while not abundant, is good enough for our day-to-day needs, Grandkids are still about 900 miles away...(just right IMO) Our house needs some minor work...some of which I'll tackle once it warms up and the weather dries up a bit...some will be contracted out...but nothing "emergency-serious" that has to be done right away...vehicles are all in good mechanical and physical condition...<knock on wood> so...yeah, things are OK.

Life is Potato!

Some good some bad in 2017. Had some health problems, wife had some heath problems, we decided to finally marry after 8+ years together, work has been generally good, couple of best friends lost their jobs, one found a better job, one is unemployed, mother in law went broke and still lives in our spare room, brother in law had legal trouble because of his evil ex-gf, haven't really been able to travel much due to wife's health issues so no south carolina, no new orleans, no cruises in 2017. We salvaged the year by marrying in Dec, but otherwise it was not all that great.

Can't complain! Still have jobs. I've been threatened every year the last 10 years so I won't believe it till it happens, then I'll be left scrambling. But my wife's IT job is threatening to go to the cloud and they won't need her whole dept. anymore. Is that how it works? Or do they keep a few on usually?

Family wise, it was the worst of times. Financially, it was the best of times. Given a choice I would have rather had the two been switched.

Depends on quite a few things but I often see a few stay on to manage the new cloud infrastructure. I've also seen places who completely priced 'going to the cloud' wrong. Everyone thinks its automatically cheaper but it can often replace CapEx costs with higher Operational costs once you actually get your environment setup right (I've also seen a few places that are ok with this because they are stupidly obsessed on CapEx and don't care that the overall cost is likely more over 3-5 years).

My mother passed away, so that cast a fairly significant shadow on the year. That said, we were able to go on some fantastic family vacations, and I believe our family came closer together. We also got a dog, so there's that. Work went fairly well, which I'd guess is a plus.

Looking forward to 2018.

Eh, it was fine I guess.

Probably the best thing was seeing my last remaining grandparent, my paternal grandmother, during Christmas (usually the one time a year I get back to the U.P.). She had a stroke this past fall and wasn't doing well at all but she's slowly regained her health which is amazing. I was surprised at how she was doing (for the better). Still though... don't think she'll see another Christmas. :-(

2017 was generally pretty good for Mrs Ned & I, but it was financially stressful. We had a lot of surprises that we were able to cover, but without a whole lot to spare.

Outside of Jan. 20 it was pretty great. I learned a lot about neurology and how what I used to think was just electrons flowing around and that they are under my control. I can stop thinking that I'm a piece of crap, and I can start thinking that others (a lot here), and life and its challenges are great teachers, which sends me down a road of appreciation that comes back, it is its own reward, a chain reaction in my brain with low esteem laid waste.

Just moving electrons around in my noggin, shifting thinking.

Much gratitude.

Good. No catastrophes or money-sinks, still in good health and I got a raise. I didn't get nearly as much work done on my projects as I wanted to, but eh.

Good with a few minor bad.

Nothing bad happened with family this year.

Got a grade level promotion and a promotion to management (two different things).

Spent a month in Europe, knocked Paris off the bucket list. Also managed to knock Grand Canyon off the bucket list.

Only made it to a couple of concerts but there were both old favorites and excellent shows.

Biggest downside to 2017 has been increased stress and weight gain, probably going hand in hand. So I'm working on destressing, picking up the exercise and such this year.
