How to really have fun with your F1 car

Well, that looks like a great idea. I wouldn't even be able to drive a Formula 1 car. Much respect for someone who can do that AND on snow nonetheless.

Why not? It has an accelerator, brake, steering wheel, and gear change mechanism just like any other vehicle since the 1800s.

Ever seen the video of Hammond trying to drive one? Its not as easy as you might think.

Afaik, being able to drive an F1 is a learned skill. Keeping the tires at the right temp, and all manner of other little things are a constant hassle. The video of Richard Hammond trying it is pretty telling.

Driving it and getting the most out of it on a race track is one thing. Getting in, turning it on, and pulling out of a driveway and 5 miles down to the grocery story is entirely another 🙂 Assuming you don't overheat and melt it sitting at the first stop light.

I find that mostly amazing because with DOT legal competition tires on my car (Nitto NT555RII), my car won't budge with even a quarter inch of snow on the ground.

On the flip side, those tires perform amazingly well on hard packed dirt roads. I drive the road to our family camp like most people drive the highway.

Also assuming that you have a crew of people to help you get strapped in, take off the tire warmers, and start the thing. Not to mention the fact that it would bottom out badly over most of the roads in this country. Even if you got past all of those problems you'd probably stall it repeatedly just trying to get out of your driveway...forget about stoplights (assuming you'd have enough heat in the brakes and tires to stop at all). Hell, I'm assuming you could even fit in one. 😛 We won't even get into the heat, the noise, the vibrations and beating your body would take trying to drive it.

Trust me, you couldn't just drive it 5 miles down to the grocery store...what would you do with the groceries anyway? Nothing bigger than a candy bar would fit in the cockpit with you.

wow, with slikcs on??? hahaha

Those were the full wet rain tires. They have deep grooves for moving massive amounts of water. They would be about the best a modern F1 car would have for driving on snow.

Lewis gets disqualified and Trulli gets 3rd place back. WTF. I'm not a Lewis fan, I'm an F1 fan and I'm sick of the stewards running the race.

I heard about that. It's like a fucking 3 ring circus...😕

Stewards after the race: Sorry Jarno, you've been disqualified...gives trophy to Lewis.

Stewards 2 days later: Oh wait, we meant Lewis, you can have 3rd place back Jarno...takes trophy from Lewis and gives it back to Jarno.
