If abortions were easy to obtain, there'd be fewer teenage mothers having to throw their unwanted babies down garbage chutes.

Teaching how to abandon babies isn't something to teach in health ed. What should be encouraged is counseling and options given then.

What should be taught is closing their damn legs. The more I hear about the absolute brutality and savagery of people I believe more and more that forced sterilizations might be needed.

It's a sad thing to say, but if people are going to kill their children because they are a burden, why not remove the ability to make the kid in the 1st place?

Reminded me of a story I saw today about a mother in Erie who apparently starved her 14-month old baby to death, then put the body in a suitcase and threw it in the trash. The mother is 21, has a 2 year old, a 3 year old, and is currently pregnant.

Interesting analysis but Catholics are not fundamentalist and the bible belt is predominantly not catholic. On top of that, this took place in NYC, not the bible belt. I think you are writing to read yourself, much like a blowhard talks to listen to himself.

Catholics are not fundamentalists in the American sense, but it is a form of fundamentalist religion:

"Fundamentalism is strict adherence to specific theological doctrines typically in reaction against the theology of Modernism." Wikipedia

Most Catholics in the third world tend to be much more in lockstep with the Vatican, while in developed countries like the US they tend to ignore much of what the Pope has to say. Latinos in the US in particular tend to bring their more fundamentalist views of the church with them when they immigrate to the US.

Which, of course, suggests you are ignorant, possibly a classsic example of the "Ugly American", and just as big a blow hard as you claim I am.

My aunt was a social worker who specialized in taking children away from parents like that. Often they're drug addicts who make their living as hookers and collect food stamps and welfare for each kid. You have to have a licence to cut hair in this country, but even the craziest and most self-destructive people are allowed to have children without any real oversight. There are some great photographs of gang members proudly displaying their babies along side their automatic weapons knowing full well they'll likely either be dead or in prison for life by 25.

As I said above, Babies/fetus, have no idea what is happening to them. They are only a collection of cells.

To damn a women, for aborting a child, in any way, is unconscionable.
