I've tried this, ended up chipping the lighter. What did I do wrong?

You use it as a lever with your finger being the fulcrum. You probably didn't have your finger close enough to the bottle. Or the cap was on really tight.

OK - who here can open a bottle with just their key?

You can use your key to pry up a few of the tabs and presto!

I just have a bottle opener on my keychain

Exactly. Anyone that isn't bright enough to carry a bottle opener at all times doesn't deserve to have a beer.

Malarkey. your bottle opener will not always be with you. Tragedy can happen at any time, any place. One must be prepared.

/salutes.

I always have my keys, so I always have my bottle opener....

pretty much this. bottle opener at my desk, bottle opener on the leatherman on my keychain, bottle opened on the leatherman in my laptop/bookbag, bottle opener on my butlers corkscrew....to me prepared was just having a bottle opener around everywhere.

I don't even see the Navy taking credit.

He's just saying the video is courtesy of the USNavy, I think?

I almost never have a lighter, but always have a bottle opener. If all else fails... using a table edge can open a bottle too.

I do this far too often. Should get a bottle opener on my keychain, but it's kinda loaded already.

OK, to the people claiming it is better to just have a bottle opener, have you ever been lost in the woods? OK, if not then STFU. If yes, then would you rather have a tool that serves two purposes, especially if one purpose is quite essential, or would you rather have two separate tools that can be easily combined into one?
