How to never miss an TV episode with BitTorrent and RSS

linkified

before you cry "wrong forum!", read some of that article. it's very useful if you're a regular bittorrent user.

before you cry "illegal stuff, BAN!", the article links only to open-source software that's perfectly legal. how you use it is up to you 🙂

I use BT for missed tv eps, but I can't do it this way - my ISP caps anyone who uploads for more than an hour or two straight, no matter what it is. I need to manually manage what I download.

what kind of sad isp is that?

Bleh....yuck....azeureus leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I'm personally a fan of ABC, AZ uses wayyy too many resources.

Optonline. It may seem sad but when I had it before college, I rarely uploaded and the 10mb download speed was pretty darn nice.

Yup it's OOL... rated the best in the nation at one point. It's still the best in terms of speed. Just don't abuse what you're actually paying for.

Not if you devote time to seeding only.

ABC was worse on my system than azureus...it wouldn't stay running for more than 5 minutes without hanging or just dropping the connection.

plus, azureus allows you to select which chunks you want to download - you needn't download any pieces you already have (from edonkey, for example).

i just like azureus better, even if it is a bit of a resource hog.

18xxKB and 1% cycle (P3/733) is "too many resources"? 😕

Unfortunately for me, you have to set a default directory to use the RSS plugin, which I don't usually do.

But I'm trying it out... Really the only shows I download are Arrested Development, Top Gear, and the Daily Show, and I don't think any of those are on the feeds right now (with the exception of an Arrested Development episode I'm already downloading).

We'll see if it finds the Daily Show for me tomorrow night.
