How to minimize tolls from DC to NYC?

thx!

never noticed google had the 'no toll' option.

going i495-i95-nj turnpike = 243 miles, 4hr 21min
going rt15-i78 = 286miles, 5hrs 11min :Q 🙁

extra 45min each way = extra 1hr 30 min round trip

i still have to pay tolls for outerbridge ($8) + verazano bridges ($8). (i tried the holland tunnel route to avoid the verazono toll. traffic SUCKS in chinatown.)

34-16 = $18 round trip saved

18/1.5 = $12/hr i'm saving

Not worth it.. sigh 🙁

Wonder if there;s a way to avoid one of the tolls in either md or delaware?

them be lots of bridges for trolls to hide under 😀

OP isn't flying cheaper?

Aren't you missing the Maryland tolls? There should be one for the Harbor Tunnel, Fort McHenry Tunnel, or the Key Bridge. Unless you drove all the way around the I-695 to avoid a $2 toll.

well excuse me mr rich guy. i envy u that your not worried about this bad economy.

Car: Tolls + Gas + Wear and tear + parking headaches = $60 + many annoyances
Bus: Bus ticket to Manhattan + subway ticket to Brooklyn = $30-$40 + peace of mind

Take US-50/301 over to US 9 and roll up to the Deleware bridge.
No tolls heading eastbound.

Just stay off the toll roads westbound

If you were really worried about money you would take a bus or carpool and split gas + tolls

if you buy in advance, boltbus can be as low as $1 during the off-peak each way, and you get big comfy seats and wifi.

you can avoid the $3 toll on I-95 between DE/MD but it's not worth the time imho, luckily I live right by it so I can just hop on 95 on whatever side I'm going, also the toll on the bridge between DE and Baltimore you can sign up for a yearly pass for $5 or something dirt cheap like that
