As someone wisely pointed out, you're all making it painfully obvious that you're trying to make yourself feel better about yourselves by making your weakness look like a virtue. But unlike you, i'm a man, and as a man, i have an established set of principles, beliefs and values. I have honor. And i would fight and die for that as willingly as i would for a loved one. I'm sorry if you can't grasp that concept.

Weakness isn't a virtue. Weakness is weakness. You are drawing unfounded conclusions. I don't need to fight with someone to prove that I a man. You become a man by making mature decisions and controlling your emotions. Not by fighting with some idiot. You are letting this guy control how you feel.

Trying to justify fighting someone because you "walked away from a smaller opponent" tells me that you have a few other issues that you might need to deal with.

And how are you going to jusify your manhood to yourself if this guys beats you down? What happens when you are face down on the concrete and a guy smaller than you is handing your ass to you?

If you are stupid enough to "fight and die" because someone who's opinion you don't value has challenged you, then I hope you get your ass kicked and you get thrown in jail. And you will, whether this guy "throws first" or not.

Hey, I'm almost anybody - so you're saying you could kick my ass? Huh? That's it, let's fight!

Wait a sec, you said you know kung fu - is he a good friend of yours? I had dinner with him once, wouldn't want to mess with that guy . . . he's messed up in the head. ;)

BTW: I find this awfully sad(?) that this thread has reached over 200 posts while other, more profound/interesting topics sit by the sidelines . . .. Of course, I did contribute, but I still can't help but feel . . ..

aight... well, it seems you want to fight him for the wrong reasons and the wrong times... you really shouldn't be planning this tihs out. if he brings it up to *you* then just ridicule him, embarass him in front of his coworkers and friends. if his friends mention something about him kicking your ass then say something like he must have a napoleon complex or something wrong in his head. do what you can to discredit him. ya gotta punk him.

if he confronts you and takes a swing, then you have every right to defend yourself. but don't go out of your way to start the fight, just respond to what he has said so far.

as far as training. it's been mentioned before but it doesn't matter if he's a smoker or not. try not to get hit in the jaw. it seems that you want to keep your 'rep' so that means if you do mean it, no cheap shots from you. watching ufc videos isn't going to help without actual practice. most fights go for a few punches then onto the ground for small punches and grappling (ok, off topic but man, one of my friends was going at it with another friend when we were all sparring together and did a german suplex in the middle of the fight, ended that fight quick and looked great!)

in my opinion though, you are overthinking this. i mean ... all the planning, training, watching videos... definitely overkill. real fights just boil over and happen, it's always a last resort. just kcuf him and forget about it. someone else said; you should attack to defend.

If you were SMART, you would challenge him go a good ol' fashioned 9 round boxing match. Street fighting is a stupid way to go about proving your manhood, and is a good way to get yourself hurt or arrested.

The best thing about challenging him to a boxing match is that he'll probably find some way to weasel his way out of it, making YOU look like the tough guy without raising a fist. Even if he does accept the fight, you'll have a better chance of winning in a clean fight, and there is less of a chance of the guy fighting dirty or pulling a knife on you in the street.

Bah, don?t get caught up in the Bs of the situation, find another way to get satisfaction or try to let it go.

The reason you shouldn't fight him it is because who is this "chump" to you in your mind that you think so little of him that you want to hurt him. Well if that?s the case why would you put your health your money your freedom at risk for someone who you think so little of.

Bottom line is you shouldn't respect his opinions enough to bother you after all he's a "loser"

People may say some sh!t or try to make me fight them, but what the heck would beating the sh!t out of them prove? I don't have to prove anything to someone who has no self confidence and has to make fun of others in order to bring their own morale up.

Just because someone says they can kick your a$$ and say sh!t about you, doesn't give you the right to beat him up. If you know that you can beat the crap out of him, great. But you don't have to prove it to the whole world by beating him up.

Though, this is just my take on it. You might be quite a bit more evil then me :D  :p

In closing: it's your choice, but I wouldn't

Bwahaha!!

That's the stupidest fscking $hit I've read in a long time.
Honor? Feel good? Watching videos? Asking on ATOT?

Man, you don't have a fscking clue what you're talking about, or what you're getting into, just give it up, you've already proven your immaturity, at least try to save what's left of your dignity(and no, fighting him is NOT the way).

I've been in a whole bunch of fights, both gotten beat up and beaten others up, and honor and crap like that had nothing to do with it in either case.

Oh well, funny stuff anyway :D

By the way, DivideBYZero, that was friggin hilarious :D

However, those who said that this can lead to criminal charges and lawsuits are most certainly correct. Therefore, throwing the first punch is now out of the question. Next time i see him, i'll confront him, but i'll make sure he throws the first punch and that there are several reliable witnesses around to see that. And thanks to those who went through the trouble of giving useful advice, it'll definitely help if i end up fighting him.

I'd also like to say thanks for a good laugh to all the pansies who had the nerve to ridicule me because of this. Just because your grandmother told you it's alright to cry yourself to sleep after being bullied on in school, doesn't mean it's the right thing to do.

I don't condone fighting. But I'd beat your ass for being a stupid punk, no matter how big you are.

I would fight for my country, religion, family, loved ones. But not for stupid things.

When I was in HS, I worked with this guy who used to think it was funny to poke at me with thumb tacks. I should have beat his ass. But I didn't. I didn't think it was worth losing my job over, or going to jail for it. It's 7 years later, and I know where I am, I'm sure he's still a poor ass goth artist.

I used to get a kick out of breaking up fights. Often times it is more physically demanding. But since I have a friend who did the same thing and got his belly slit by an observer, I'll scope out the entire situation before pulling someone out.

I had 3 skirmishes with a roommate in college. He initiated all 3. Usually I'd talk us out of it, or walk away, or he'd calm down. But once it got ugly. Shoving match followed by a swing. I caught it and held his sleeves laughing in his face. He couldn't break out. And when I said we were done, and let go, he took a cheap shot. I wanted to file a complaint as an example, and to have the incidence on record, but the police officer said he'd have to take us both in, because I also assaulted him.

SO, if you think that just because he throws the first punch you're free and clear, you're a MORON. You do not fear for your life, you're going to start a confrontation -- self defense is a long shot on that one pal. If you beat him to a pulp after the initial assault, and don't have a scratch on you, you're goin' down too.

It takes less self control to lose control than it does to maintain it.

Any way you slice it, I can turn your statement back on you:

"As someone wisely pointed out, you're all making it painfully obvious that you're trying to make yourself feel better about yourselves by making your weakness look like a virtue. But unlike you, i'm a man, and as a man, i have an established set of principles, beliefs and values. I have honor."

Ok, I am going to give you a tip, that I swore to my ~katsu~ (flying dragon style karate trainer) that I would not reveal to anyone that isn't well versed in FDK (flying dragon karate). Please only use this only if your life depends on it, as it is a devastating blow to your opponent. This is the move known as the Dancing ~katsu~(dancing dragon for the layperson), and has been taught from one ~katsu~ to another for centuries. Ok here goes:

When you are squared up to your advesary, let him charge you. When he does this, tilt back your head slightly, put both your arms out to your sides , and close your eyes. This may not "feel" like a natural fighting stance, but believe me your advesary will be very surprised by this move! With your eyes closed, invoke the power of the Flying Dragon, feel his blood course through your veins, "see" through his eyes. "See" your opponent defeated before you, it is vital that you envision this for proper use of the Dancing ~katsu~. When you "sense" your opponent closing in on you, quickly fold your arms in front of you and kick up your legs in tempo. If you have seen Lord of the Dance, the Dancing ~katsu~is very similar, this move will be very comfortable to you and easy to learn. Dance, dance , dance! At this point your opponent will be very confused and disoriented, you must show him no mercy! Continue the dancing ~katsu~, dance your but off! Your advesary will crumple before you , discombobulated, flustered, and dazed, an empty shell of a man. Another has fallen to the Dancing ~katsu~!

Im not sure someone mentioned this, but even if he does throw the first punch, doesnt this whole post prove that you premeditated it and set it up?

If you get a hard punch in and kill him somehow, that makes it premeditated murder instead of involuntary manslaughter.
