How to make a cool lan party?

I was going to have a 40 person lan party in the up comeing months and wanted to know any tips to make this a kick ass lan party? The game will ut 2003 mostly. Please give tips.

don't just have one game... besides a lan without CS isn't a lan.

make sure to have a switched network, and a broadband connection if possible. ac is a must, being hot when your gaming sucks. plenty of room for people to spread out is also nice... mostly, make sure that the network is ready to go, waiting for someone get it up and running when you want to game is really annoying.

If everyone is or isn't over 21, I say everyone pitches in 5-8 bucks for lots of pizza and Coke- that'd be fun!

caffeine is an elixer at a lan party along with some food, and try to make sure the power doesn't go out

yeah... if you can, find some bawls, other wise jolt of mt dew always works... find a pizza place wher eyou can get some cheap za. there is a place there that always gives us a large 1 topper for 5 bucks

might do a old school duke...the best...and thinking of geting placks for winner of lan party at a custom trophy place only $20 .... other wise there is nothing to play for....

make sure the area you are gonna host it in has the capacity for 40 computers + monitors

get comfortable chairs

With that many folks...try to use a dedicated server to host the games.

UT2K3 might be a timely choice...if your attendees have the hardware for it.
CS is good because it doesn't take uber-hardware to run.

now if its a kegger with computer games, then that might rock.

What should I do about this there are not enouf outlets but with surge protectures I am worried about blowing a fuse.

yep ....... I called a local small airport asking to rent out a hanger, but they were mean and sed I had to rent for a year.... any sugestions for a place???? Also i am planing this to be a 14 hour lan party.

A small to mid-size conference room at a hotel would be good, but can get pricey.

well this is going to be in a basement and I was going to move everything out of the way in to other rooms ...so in the end there is one big empty room reddy for gameing.

Thinking more from the issue of enough power...and human facilities.
