40 people in your basement? Uh...

Good luck with the power on that one...

What should I do about this there are not enouf outlets but with surge protectures I am worried about blowing a fuse.

Make sure you run extension cords from differend parts of the house so as not to overload one section of the house.

I'd try to get him out there BEFORE the festivities, and start mapping out loads.

It probably wouldn't hurt to wire up some new heavy duty circuits dedicated for the lan. You would hate to overheat an extension cord and start a fire.

dude... seriously, power is going to be an issue.

I was at a lan party on Friday night and with only 16 people, we were tripping breakers.... 15 and 20 amps.
After several attempts to finally even the load, we managed to get it right and we were fine...

I recommend you run a at least 3 additional 20 amp lines to be safe

ive run lan parties in excess of 200 people

what works for us in regards to power (and power is almost always an issue event hough i usaully outsource the entire power thing to a party rental place) is that you can place 4-5 PC's per 15amp breaker, that only being their TOWER and MONITOR, nothing else, no mini TV's, no 500 watt klipsch speakers, no microwaves (yes ive had people bring microwaves??? WHY?!?!) no christmas lights strung up around your gaming area, cuz every watt counts when you start dealing with 40-50+ people

Remeber, all teh outlets by your kitchen/bathroom are 30 amp breakers, and if you rEALLY need power, buy a distrubtion board (couple hundred bucks) and plug it into the back of your oven or laundry dryer outlet
:)
