Yup yupThe cheap noodles serve as a base for a real meal. The same way you use 50 cents of spaghetti per meal.

"You know nothing, Jon Snow"If people put as much work into learning how to cook as they do making ramen palatable, they'd never need ramen again
I had a roommate once who ate it dry, right out of the package. Like a candybar D:
find a real ramen joint. they are all not created equal. here in the nyc metro area we have some great ones. my favorite is a tonkotsu ramen - it's a pork bone based broth with so many layers of flavor that cooks for 8+ hours and is made creamy by all the marrow. the noodles are perfectly al dente and the pork can melt in your mouth.
i've had some good shoyu based ramens, it's a thinner broth primarily based upon soy sauce. and there are more - but the tonkotsu, it's a little bit of heaven.
I'll take $1 Nongshim Shin noodle over real ramen from overpriced ramen joint. Ramen joints are highly inconsistent. Nongshim Shin is not. I can cook and eat it in little over 5 minutes.
sorry, nothing instant you can make at home will compare even remotely to a good ramen joint. sure, like in any cuisine, there are good and bad ramen joints, reasonably priced ones and overpriced ones. like with ANY kind of restaurant, find a good one, it's worth every penny.
a broth cooked for 8 hours plus, so intricate and perfect. perfectly cooked pork belly. beautfiully poached egg in it. etc..
Whatever. I've had real ramen from "good ramen joints." It's overrated. $1 ramen can compare favorably with $15 real ramen.
I tried it because he said it was good. I could hardly swallow one bite, it was so dang dry haha.
But then again, there are those people who like those ultra-dry cookies that come in the round tin at Christmas, so to each his own I guess...

I seriously hope nobody listens to such stupid advice. Just like you can get a shitty $15 pizza from one joint and a great one from another joint doesn't mean you should just get pre-made pizza from your grocer.
Read reviews, go try some, you may hit some bummers but you will find good ones. I've had $12 bowls of ramen that are a full satisfying meal of absolute deliciousness. The japanese take things seriously. They master a craft. Find those ramen joints which have that kind of dedication, you will be in heaven. A good bowl of ramen at a place like Santouka, Ippudo, Hide-Chan, Minca in the NY metro area is a meal to be experienced.
Same can be said about good bowl of pho. The difference is pho is about half the price of ramen. And there's no cheap $1 instant substitute for pho.
That seems to be a bit excessive for cheap, instant noodles.

Paying $15 for a bowl of noodles is like paying $75 for a USB cable.
dont get it either. They sprinkle the flavoring and eat the noodle dry.
Good ramen is much more than noodles.
The broth and pork are amazing. I pay $10 at my local ramen restaurant.
