Stick hotdog on nails.
HA! Does anyone remember those Presto hotdog machines they sold years ago? That's exactly what they were. Like six nails/prongs in them, impale the dog, close the lid, plug in it and they cook.

I had this solar energy experiment set when I was a kid (yes I got all the fun things for my birthday

), it came with this big curved reflector thing that you could use to cook a hotdog on a sunny day. After waiting for half an hour I just ate the damn cold uncooked thing.

You do know he means "one minute and 30 seconds" or 90 seconds, right? NOT 1:30. Which could mean "one hour and 30 minutes" :Q

When I make hotdogs at home, I boil them. Put in water, bring to boil. Boil for two minutes AFTER water starts to boil. Delicious. :p
Even better, boil them in beer doctored with various spices. Good stuff. :D

My roommate boils them in the microwave. He uses a tupperware dish and fills it with water....throws the dogs in and nukes em.

They don't dry out or end up with those dark spots that way...

OK, so now I want a hot dog. Only problem is, the ones in my fridge expired a month ago.

Should I?

I doubt that there's anything that could go wrong with em that wasn't wrong to begin with.

vash's method of cooking hotdogs:

1. Slice hotdogs down the length of the weiner, but do not cut in half.
2. Chop a quarter of an onion
3. Brown the onions for a few minutes on a pain, with a little bit of vegetable oil.
4. Add the hotdogs, making sure to cook with the sliced down both up and down for a few minutes.
5. Remove hotdogs when they no longer hold their lengthy shape and have curved 15-20 degrees.

Remove all from pan, add a bun and put spicy mustard on the dog(s).

Dorm life: boil in hotpot.

Home life: pan fry or Foreman grill it.

You are the Martha Stewart of processed meat products! That sounds pretty good.

Stick hotdog on nails. Plug in to wall. Hotdog cooked quickly by 120v. UNPLUG before taking hotdog off. This is an old construction workers' cooking device on the job site.
You don't have to get all fancy with a board & nails. Just take a lampcord, or any other two-prong power cord, and strip an inch or so off the end of each wire & insert into the end of the hotdog. Plug the cord in and unplug once it reaches the appropriate medium or medium well. You can then wipe down the ends of the cord, coil it up and throw it in a drawer until next use.

My favorite way was how my bowling alley did it: slice them down the middle (sort-of butterfly cutting them) and open them to lay flat and pan grill/fry them on both sides. One interesting way I saw on Food Network was this place that deep fried the hot dogs, so much so, that they were all seared and crispy....I'm so tempted to try that sometime.

Get a saucepan and add (1) can of Sauerkraut + 1/4 can of water. Add pack of Hot Dogs and cover. Heat over medium heat until the 'dogs start to split.

Uncooked hotdogs are white. As white as your sheets...and they have about the same stiffness as cooked pasta. If you took an uncooked hotdog and a wad of wet toilet paper and threw them both against the wall you'd get the same results. If you saw something at the store that said it wasn't cooked, it wasn't a package of hotdogs.

Thank you. I knew I'd never seen un-precooked hotdogs before.

Deep frying the cheap hot dogs is a disaster. They seem to allow too much air under the case, cooking the outside few layers well, but the inside is still pretty gross. Boiling or pan frying is the way to go, microwave when you are a lazy bastard.

This is the best way to ready hotdogs.

1) Boil them for a few minutes.
2) Take them out of the water and place them in buns. Place some cheese (I just use Kraft singles) on them, put them on a cookie/pizza tray and stick them in a hot oven for about 1 minute...just long enough to melt the cheese.
3) Spread a little mayo on them and smother (and I mean smother) them with jalapeno slices.
4) Serve with FunYuns and ice cold Pepsi. ;)
