Dear Mr. PC Riceboy,

Changing the display to Ti4600 from Ti4200 will not improve performance, and your friends will only laugh harder when their R9600 spanks your rig.

Love,

I think it's in the bios, though I'm not sure exactly what you'd do to change it.

You could probably extract the detonators -> modify the ini -> reinstall the drivers.

Not sure why you'd want to do this though.

Because then you can sell an Asus V8420S as a Ti4600... because it uses the 8 layer PCB of the Ti4600, and has 4600 printed on it, but covered up by the V8420S sticker that is easily peeled off. Then the only other way to tell would be to remove the heatsink from the GPU, clean the thermal interface material off, and look at what's printed on the GPU itself.

I'm just wondering what possible functional use this could have.

1) You're a PC Ricer, probably have an Alienware machine, and I was dead on with my letter.
2) You're trying to rebadge/otherwise misrepresent your video card to rip someone off.

Yeah... how lame. I remember thinking "man, this isn't good, someone could just change the name of this car as it appears in the drivers and sell it as a Ti4600" ... at least the people who would do that kinda thing aren't smart enough to figure out how :D

I actually wouldn't mind changing my video card's name from RADEON 9800 Pro to GeForceFX 5900. It would make me feel less dirty. :p

wow you're so clever aren't you... :disgust: since you want be cheap about it, i'd like to buy a *car* called ti4600 too, it's such a great name...

oh and yes it is in the INI file, but editing this and reinstallaling doesn't always work depending on driver version. if your card's ID does not match the text in the drivers, it won't install. this is the case for 44.03 dets.

Dude dont you get why people are being rude to him? He is trying to pass a video card off as something else in otherwords take a 9800np he buys for 239$ making the bios on the card say its a 9800pro and sell it to some poor kid for twice what he purchased it for. Its dirty its cheap and its aganst the law he should be temp banned for 30 days and all his trades suspended for even asking this question. The fact that he stated ealier "why i would like to rename it is my business, not yours." Almost garantees his guilt....sad if this guy has any trades in the hot deal furum for a video card he should be permbanned.

Yes...you go to NVidia and you order a new card with the name that you like, plug it in, and whala...
your computer starts up with the name you wanted!
