On a side note, when we got back from seeing the movie, he grabbed his Thor mask and hammer, his capt america shield and his Iron Man hand shooting thing along with the power thing that stuck on his chest and said he can be all of the avengers at the same time. Then he ran around the house beating me, his mother, and the two dogs.
:D
Because The Avengers were known for terrorizing their households, right? :D
At my house, it was Batman, Super Man, the power rangers and nerf guns at the same time.

It's 'normal' for some, not for others. I have 3 sons; my oldest still probably can't spell awesome, the other two are outstanding spellers. I'm somewhat of a spelling nazi but I certainly don't care how his first grader spells.

Thanks, SM. I agree completely. My oldest started reading a few months after I did. My youngest (Hawkeye) was much more normal, but he can discern things and make correlations that I've seen few kids grasp. He's definitely intelligent in ways that other kids are not.

The thing is... I wasn't all, "Y R U NOT READING?!?!?" with him. I don't have these unrealistic expectations of him and what he MUST do. Well, except for treating people with love and respect - I DO expect that.

Perhaps when those haters become parents, they'll get it. If they don't get it, I feel sorry for their children.

Cute list, OP, and I too chuckled at the filling in of the boxes. Once he gets acueret, his transformation will be complete and the two of you can fight crime together, Kick-Ass style.

I'd love to. Since my youngest hasn't decided to start a "How to be Iron Man" checklist, I figured I'd start one.

Now, where can I get a few billion dollars? And does anyone have some Pepper I can borrow?

Oh, I get it! That's sarcasm you're trying to do, right?[/Foghorn Leghorn]

FTFY.

BTW, isn't he REALLY saying "Lump of of stuf"?

Also, the reason your son thinks he is cool is because he LOOKS cool and is the bad-boy. Stark is a bad boy, but more of a playboy than a bad-ass.

Also, did he draw this before or after going to school? This may be his case for Hawkeye after a careful round of intellectual debate with his fellow classmates....

(And I was another that was quietly humming "Suicide is Painless" when I read this thread title)

Dude that's funny, kids are awesome! My 8 year old brought home a "book" he had been working on at school this year. It was called "Iron Chris" and it was about how "Iron Chris" stopped a meteor from hitting New York City, complete with illustrations.

Simply awesome. :D

Yeah, the J was backwards. We're workin' on that. :)

Just asked him where he drew it. He says he started it at school and added "be acueret" and colored the check boxes at home.

Cerpin - it is confirmed: he colored in the checkboxes as he confirmed each line! hahahaha! He was smiling so big when I asked him if that was what he was doing. :D
"Be asom": check!

EDIT: My oldest just came up and saw the pictures in the OP. He rolled his eyes and said, "He thinks he has cool hair."

So many people on here are wound waaayyy too tight.

Speaking as a dad of 4 kids, that was really cute. Perfectly fine for a 7 year old.

Hawkeye IS cool! He and Black Widow are great because they do what they do with talent, training, and their own bodies.

The movie was asom!

Before I left for work, I asked him, "So... all you need is to be 'acueret' and you'll be able to be Hawkeye, right?" He told me that he "really already has that", so he can now be Hawkeye.

I don't believe him; he still has a smile. :)

Your kid is awesome. Tell him NuclearNed said so.

He will love your username, probably assuming you're another superhero. :D

Avengerers unite!

Hawkeye vs. The Grammar Nazis

That's asom. :D Great idea for a first episode/issue/movie!

In all fairness, it is not BAD, but Trey, you know what you need to look after the next few years....

It is important to find ways to nudge things that may be falling behind or you will get a Nuclear Physicist that still can't put "J"s in the right direction....... ;)

Thanks again for everyone who has responded. For obvious reasons, I haven't gone through these post-by-post with him. But I have told him that "a bunch of people on the Internet love your drawings." :)

Maybe I can convince him to wear his "sut" and hold his "arow" so I can take his pic.

Our family is filled with good spellers. His mom and dad are both writers. I'm sure he will be fine. :)

EDIT: Then again... his uncle (my brother) wrote backwards for a couple years. Hmm...

Ha, love it. Asom, indeed. My boy turns 7 this weekend. It is an absolute joy to see how a child views the world. Thanks for posting.

My kids (3 and 2) just sing the Mickey mouse clubhouse song, etc. I guess they are far behind. :)

I'll scan it, but he had a frowny face for "not have a smile", a frowny dude in a suit (with two more frowny faces on the suit) for "have a sut", an A with an arrow for "be Avingerer", some little squiggle for "cool hare"...

What's the drawing that goes with asom? I haven't figured that out - a fist punching a guy?
