I cannot believe what i read in this (sorry to say, somewhat lame ;) ) thread.... I might be getting old, but i have only been out of HS for 5 years. If someone asked myself or a friend out in a way that is being discussed, we would have laughed in your face at the prospect of putting on a stupid show just to one-up another person.

Yeesh, i am glad i am out of high school.

:disgust: Not all of us are friends with the fat girls. If they are desperate enough to ask you, there must be a problem.

Fat girls need loving too!

Seriously though, I only went to 2 dances in my life. But both times some girl came to me and said "so and so wants you to ask her to X" To which I replyed, tell her I pick her up at 6.

Otherwise I would just meet girls at keggers and go from there.

"Hi <insert name>, ...<small talk/no small talk> So I was wondering do you want to go to the dance with me?"

Sounds stupid for asking someone out on a date. Some of them seem "decent" for asking someone to marry you though :)

ugh...wtf

I know it may not be so simple for some of you but simply asking after some small talk seems ok enough for me. If you can make her laugh or giggle after some small talk or even say something that will make her smile your chances skyrocket.

Too much trouble. You worry too much OP. Some people don't even go through that much trouble proposing marriage.
